Question 1.- What were the different types of courts in the Middle Ages.
Some of the different types of courts in the Middle Ages were Church courts, Manor courts and Royal courts. Now all of these courts are different and have different rules. For example Church courts are lighter in sentences than Royal courts also Church courts cannot sentence death. Manor courts are dealt with charges of assault, petty theft, public drunkenness and other small crimes. Also Royal courts deal with serious crimes such as rape, murder, cutting trees etc. The way we know there were different types of courts are by artifacts, scriptures and more. When you had put your hand in boiling water or holding and red hot iron you would get a wound. When you had finished your punishment you wound was then bandaged and if it had started to heal after three days then you were innocent if it was clear that the wound was not healing or infected you were guilty. Most of these ordeals are found in India, Asia, America, Europe and parts of Africa. How we knew that there where ordeal by fire and other ordeals, was by the pantings and old books as well. One of the techniques they would use to punish someone would be to suffocate the thumpers, this is when you put this mettle thing around your thumbs and it slowly stops your blood pressure coming to your thumbs. Another technique they would use punish the criminal would be a knee splitter, this is when he or she would put their knee in between it and the knee splitter would badly hurt your knee so you could not walk.
