Write a 2 page (double spaced) Classification essay. (See p.244) for more information about writing this kind of essay. Your essay should contain elements of a well-structured essay: * The main point should be clearly presented in a single sentence thesis statement * There should be a clear introduction * The paragraphs of the essay should have clear topic sentences * The paragraphs should be logically organized to provide support for the thesis (likely either in chronological order or order of importance) * Be 4-7 thorough paragraphs in length/ feel complete * Be unified, coherent, and non-repetitive
In class work, August 13: Brainstorm interesting topics
Then make an outline that includes: * A clear thesis statement with a purpose (entertain, advise, teach) * Three to four topic sentences that support the thesis statement * Details, facts, or examples to develop each paragraph * A logical order of paragraphs *
The Rough Draft is due April 15. Bring 3 paper copies to class. Note that this essay will be reviewed by two of your peers, so be sure to not only do your best, but write about content that you are comfortable having others read. If you do not have three TYPED hard copies on this day, you will earn a 0 for your rough draft grade as well as a severely docked peer review grade.
The Peer Review will be Tuesday, August 20.
The Final Draft is due through online submission on Bb on Thursday, August 22.
Any topic is allowable as long as it fits the parameters of the essay, and it should not require quoting or outside
