This goes the same for my station, which is located next to Interstate-10. Traffic flows from San Antonio to Houston daily with travelers, commuters, and truck drivers who are hauling supplies for work. When an accident occurs, we respond promptly and determine the appropriate resources that are required. With just a push of a button, dispatch can radio and request to deliver more units to the scene from rescue, HAZMAT, ambulances for multiple patients, and even air life for extreme cases. The beauty about San Antonio is being the seventh largest city in the nation and consisting of multiple hospitals at its convenience from all levels and houses two level one hospitals for critical care. This was not the case in the motorcoach crash in Utah that took the lives of nine passengers seven who died on scene and two on transport to…
You’re driving, you get a text from your best friend, and you just look at the screen of your cell phone when suddenly BAM you’re in a car accident! In just ten seconds your whole life turned upside down by what, a car accident, because you were just distracted for about ten seconds. Funny isn’t it, how in a second, your life can shatter like that? What if you didn’t get distracted? Those what ifs are the only thing you are left with once you survive through an auto accident, just plain regret. What’s left to ask is how car/auto accidents are killing and hurting people for their entire life. I’m Aizay Tariq and the issues we’re going to be investigating are the three main reasons people get into car accidents, which are distracted driving,…
One of the last things anyone wants to worry about or even think about is getting into an accident on the road. To make matters worse, no one wants to get into a head-on collision with a truck. Now before…
Is a phone call really worth someone’s life? In today’s society, citizens are faced with many distractions while driving. When people drive, they encounter disturbances varying from electronics to food that cause them to take part of their attention away from the road. These interruptions that society faces affect countless amounts of people in ways some would not even image. Distractions cause crashes which then take not only people’s lives, but also hard earned money from those who were not even in the crash. Any distractions while driving, including drinking, texting, or driving with fatigue, are so dangerous that they could cost the driver their life and cause others to pay for the damage; thus changing the course of the driver’s own life and impacting society.…
Normally, a person’s main concern is their own wellbeing. However, once a driver gets behind the wheel he/she is now responsible for the lives of the other drivers and…

Other accompanied people in the vehicle can play a major distraction hazard while driving. I recall a time when Josh Taylor, Colten Edmonds, and I were involved in a car accident not too long ago. We were headed back home from the Nacogdoches Mall down University Drive. While we exited the mall entrance, we started talking about a time that I scared my friend Josh. When all of a sudden we looked ahead of us, hit the car breaks, but it was too late. The car slid its way and rammed the back of a Camaro car. Due to our distraction of our conversation we wrecked but luckily no one got hurt that day.…
Other disturbances may include passengers, dropping belongings, eating, drinking, a wandering mind, or even things outside of the vehicle. The worst part is drivers do not even notice their problems. Seconds count in life, and life is not worth losing over a text message or a phone call. In 2011, unfocused, diverted drivers caused ten percent of crashes resulting in death.…
Five seconds may not mean a great deal or seem like significant amount of time to be concern about; however, a driver spending just five seconds to read a text message while driving can mean more than what most drivers anticipated. It can mean a person’s life. Sarah Rogers was only 8 years old when driving in a car with her mom. On a four-way stop sign a car crashed into their car hitting the mother’s side at 60mph. James Trolley was the driver who crashed into them and because he decided to text and drive, Sarah will live the rest of her life without the presence of her mother again. Sixteen-year-old Kayla Preuss died of head injuries when she lost control of her car and slammed into the center median. Seventeen-year-old…
One of the top rules in driving is to block out every distraction and focus on the road. However, through technology and mental brainwashing, society has found it acceptable to use cell phones behind the wheel. When a cell phone is in your hand while you are driving, this creates a physical deficiency and a major distraction to you and your brain. Even the most accomplished, proclaimed multitasking individuals, do not know the exact timing when someone will cross the road or turn the corner. The unknown is what causes these distracted drivers to crash. When one takes his hands off the wheel or eyes off the road, even for a split second, this person is risking more then just a missed call or text. A test was set up with truck drivers at Virginia Tech. Trucks were fitted with cameras that recorded the drivers face in the six seconds before the accident occurred. Shocking evidence was found after…

Responsibility is a very strong word. Holding yourself accountable for your actions and others at the same time is not an easy task. It may seem easy, less painful or less demanding to not take responsibility for yourself. It’s more comfortable but there’s always a price to pay. When you don’t take responsibility for yourself or others that are important to you, you are giving away your personal power. It is extremely complicated for parents. Parents have to take accountability for themselves and their children. Mothers play a bigger role in taking care of us and shaping us into a grown individual. Mothers are more emotionally attached to their child. If their child does anything wrong, they always tend to blame their behavior on themselves and the way they have raised their children. Women forget to take in account their own self-interests; instead they worry about their family. This is perfectly portrayed in a short story by Budge Wilson called ‘The Leaving’. In this story, Elizabeth, a helpless wife, takes responsibility for the chauvinistic behavior of her children and her husband. In an attempt to change her lifestyle, Elizabeth stand up to her husband after 19 years; she showers her daughter with opportunities and tries to alter the behaviors of her sons and grandsons.…

Road accident is a global tragedy with ever-rising trend. In Malaysia, road accidents represent a major public health problem, because of the high number of victims and the seriousness of consequences. Based on the statistic from Road Safety Department Malaysia, there were 397,330 cases of traffic accident happened in the year 2009. That means there are around 1000 cases are happening every day. Can you see how large is the figure? Well, people tend to blame on others, for example, the government when tragedy happened, but actually we, as the road user also playing an important role. Ask yourself, are you a good driver? Do you have a good driving attitude? It is pointless to blame on others when tragedy happened, our attitude is the main factor contribute to accident rate.…
There is no philosophically well-settled way of dividing or analyzing the various components of responsibility, and some components are often ignored by philosophers. To take a more comprehensive approach, this article divides the responsibility of individuals into four areas of enquiry. Recent analytic moral philosophy has tended to ask two deceptively simple questions about responsibility like; “What is it to be responsible?” and “What is a person responsible for?”…
