There are many different things that the Dinka people do that different them from other cultures, and tribe like the way they dress. The Dinka people have very different attire the most people. The women in the tribe wear very little clothing, and often wear jewelry. The men also wear very little clothing and in fact it’s very common for men to wear no clothing. (Ed. Timothy L. Gall) The men also wear a lot of jewelry made from beads and they often wear bangles. Although other tribes have similar ways of dressing they still have a unique way of dressing.

Men defiantly dominate this tribe; men always take on most important role. They have more power, more advantages, and can be given powerful roles in the community. The man are given jobs like ritual leader and political leaders, those positions are always given to men. (Ed. Timothy L. Gall) It is also very common to have many wives among the tribe. If you are a very successful high-class man you can have anywhere from 50-100 wives. (Ed. Timothy L. Gall) Although women do not have as much power among the tribe, they are greatly respected. The women raise the kids, take care of the family, garden, farm, and do so many important things for the tribe. The Dinka people are usually not educated properly. A majority of Dinka people cannot read or write properly, but the jobs they have don’t require reading or writing most of the time. They speak a Nilotic language that is classified in the southern Sudan, although there is one type of dialect that is unknown to others there are some languages’ that they speak. Although most of the Dinka tribe cant write they use the Latin alphabet for the people who do learn to read and write.

Their houses are mostly surrounding by huge grasslands, farms, and woods. Unlike most tribe faming is a huge part of the life for the Dinka people and it provides many jobs for them. The Dinka have three different kinds of farming season. There first one is during their rainy season. This farming usually contains cows they fertilize the grass and the farming land. The Dinka people have a very plain diet. They get a main portion of there food from the gardens they have, and also from farming. The bulk of their food is meat they get most of there meat form cows, goats, and fish. Due to the hat that they have many cows for harvesting they have a lot of cow milk. (T. L. Gall & J. Hobby) They eat a lot of tomatoes and beans and other vegetables. The Dinka people always have rice with all of their meals they’re eating is the most normal thing about them ( The Dinka people worship the earth goddess, although they now believe in Christianity, they used to base most of there worshiping and people based on spirits and thee earth goddess.

Even their holidays are based around religion and are often celebrations for sprits. They are usually to honor the spirits (T. L. Gall & J. The Dinka tribe has had problems with other societies due to the fact that they are much different in so many attributes of life. Most Dinka people are primarily located in southern Sudan due too many years of civil war. They have mainly had conflict with the Arab Muslim Government that ruled over them. (“Dinka People." wikipedia.com.) The fact that they had many different religious, and spiritual beliefs it became hard for them to communicate and eventually lead to a civil war in 1983. The civil war continued for twenty-one years before they could even come some kind of agreement. The Dinka people’s life style and culture is much different from others in the way that they live, eat, work, etc. From all the information it shows how diverse and unique they are from others. They have become one of the largest tribes in Africa and have an impact on other tribes. All of the things they do make them unique.
