Social Networking Advantages and Disadvantages

Finding the advantages and disadvantages of social networking for career advancement was to say the least interesting. The employment advancement with Social media in education can teach students marketing skills early on in the process. When using sites like Facebook, twitter, and Instagram individuals are able to send information about themselves out to millions of people. If that same person uses Social media to market products for work not only are they advertising the company but themselves as well, Because if I go into the store looking for the item I saw on twitter I want the person who posted it.
Now, The other advantage to using social media would be sites like LinkedIn, which has many advantages to offer to individual consumers. Not only is LinkedIn awesome when it comes to connecting individuals in your career field, it is also a place where you can go to for in career-transition. If a Employer wants to check out candidates after they apply to the company usually they check out your profile and that’s a great reason to have one. When scouting for employment opportunities it’s also a great site to use. “The Internet and social media train our brains to skim and scan” (Connelly, 2011). The amount of information on social media sites is large, we can easily learn what information is helpful in our journey to career development.” Join LinkedIn. Finally, Comes the disadvantages of using social media, although we can develop “scanning and skimming” skills, those same skills impede or vision when it comes to what’s important to what’s not. Researchers have said that Internet use with greater impulsivity, decreased patience, tenacity, and weaker critical thinking skills (Connelly, 2011). Other disadvantages would be the amount of
