Discuss The Claim That Women Face Sexism
Supporters claim that there is no equality, women face sexism every day, and there is still a wage gap between the sexes. First off, women have been fighting for equality but it still has not happened. In fact, historically women have been considered inferior to men intellectually and a primary source of evil and temptation which has not changed yet from this day (“Women’s History” 1). As stated, women are seen as wicked things that are controlled by men. Secondly, most, if not all women face sexism every day. Research done on Yale University in 2012 says, “Both male and female science professors were less likely to hire and mentor women than they were men”, simply because women are being undercut and have no confidence to get to the top
(“Women’s Rights” 5). While girls grow up, they are continuously put underneath men; making them believe what they are told is true. Finally, the wage gap between the sexes has closed but it is still there. A statistic from Pilar Quezzaire and Laura Finely imply, “Based on the growth in 2015, the pay gap would not close until 2059” (“Women’s Rights: Overview” 5). Roughly, 42 years until women doing the same work as men are paid equally. To conclude, equality is coming along as well as the close in the pay gap, but sexism is a persistent fight for women every day.
