This report will cover the significance of technology and the aging population. It will discuss the importance these technological changes will make in the lives of the elderly and the problems that may occur because of these same changes. It is important to study these changes and how they may affect us to prepare for how we can best handle this changing world and prevent some of these negative effects while reaping the benefits. Technology can cause ageism or help dispel ageism. It has been thought that older folks are not as good with technology, so people may tend to hire younger people. In reality older workers are willing to learn the new technology. We have to consider things like a slower learning curve and training should consider the cognitive, sensory and physical changes of the adult. Society uses codes of conduct and past ethical considerations to make future decisions. When one does not have guidelines to follow it becomes easy to overlook or ignore issues. Past issues like the fax machine where personal and private information was accidently being faxed to wrong numbers.
