INTRODUCTION
I want to establish the ways in which injuries sustained to an infant/ child is examined during post mortem are to be the cause or natural causes or child abuse. To understand ways that a coroner can tell from post mortem what symptoms or signs that detect suspect child abuse from those of natural causes or as of such as that of sudden infant death syndrome (S.I.D.S.) `
I aim to do this by studying case studies and related literature. I attended post mortems at Westminster coroners court had numerous conversations with both adult and pediatric pathologists and a meeting with one of the child protection specialists from operation Indigo. This was in order to gain insight into examinations carried out during child post mortems and the reasons behind the examinations.
