The status of women in the United States throughout history has grown a lot.
Women throughout history had fewer rights and employment opportunities. Women were looked at as stay at home moms, wives to take care of the home and children while the man worked. Women did not have a choice in choosing employment, voting or even attending school. From the 19th and 20th century a lot of things began to change for women. In the 19th century women began working outside of the home in textile mills and clothing shops. Change also happened within the medical employment fields allowing more women to work. On August 18, 1920 the 19th amendment guaranteed all women the right to vote. The status of women in the U. S.is that women are getting some of the same benefits as men. There are many organizations that fight for the equality of women and they are succeeding. When we look at how women are now allowed to be doctors and nurses, and receive the same pay. We also now see women in the courtrooms as judges and working in the construction area beside the men.
Women have advanced greatly and have a lot to be proud of .We are striving daily to be treated fairly with the men and it is well deserved. A USA TODAY analysis of Census Bureau data reveals a revolution in the traditional roles of men and women that extends from college campuses to the workplace to the neighborhoods across this nation. Today, when one spouse works full- time and the other stays home, it's the wife who is the sole breadwinner in a record 23% of families, the analysis finds. When the Census started tracking this in 1976, the number was 6%. Just as telling, wives out earn their husbands 28% of the time when work, up from 16% 25 years ago. This means the wife is bringing home the bacon, or at least more bacon than her husband, in more than 12 million American families. The woman is
