Throughout genrations business’s have always been required to change in the world whether this be changes in trends of consumers or internal changes such as technological progression. For the business to achieve an efficient and swift change it is important that employees and in particular managers are also able to adapt. Managing methods have changed as time has progressed this could be because of ethical, cultural changes or even in management style changes. However it is also important to note that many management styles and approaches are developed innovations of past methods created by researches such as Abraham Maslow. The Maslow triangle showing hierarchy is a method still used by many business’s in modern times, eventhough it was introduced in 1943 it is still used as a model of motivation for workers.

Classical management is an approach whereby the social needs and the need for job satisfaction are not required or do not exist at all. In addition it is a management structure which is based on the belief that economic and physical needs are important. It is a management attitude which was highly used by monopoly business’s which placed profit maximistation as a high requirement. It also advocates high specialisation of labour and decision making.
