Role of Media in Promoting Culture of Human Rights
The relationship between human rights and the media is absolute at all levels and fields. Most often the news, but do not forget the stories, usually complaint or information about rights, interviews with people involved in organisations that defend human rights, or victims of the violation thereof. Increasing participatory ideologies and attitudes and the increasing use of non-institutional or non-conventional forms of participation is observed. To the extent that public policies affect citizens more directly, they try to achieve a more immediate and comprehensive on political elite’s control. The actors of the new social movements are social groups acting on behalf of communities attributed: their interests, peace, environment, human rights and forms no alienated labour, consumer protection, respect for ethnic minorities, Community movements struggle for health; their values, personal autonomy and identity as opposed to centralised control (Harris et al., …show more content…
Therefore, the media have a major effect on the climate of opinion (Howard, 2015).
II. Agenda setting
The idea of a sentence of a researcher, Cohen, who in 1963 said that while the press, cannot get much time telling people what to think, is surprisingly able to say to themselves readers about what topics should think of something. As it says Shaw (Wolf, 1987) does not claim that the media seek to persuade rather, to describe and define the external reality, provide the public a list of all the issues around which to have an opinion and discuss or talk. As a result of its action, the public is aware or ignore, pay attention or neglected or overlooked emphasises, specific elements of public scenarios (Smith, 2013).
