Introduction
Music has become a growing industry throughout history. People want to hear it during any occasion possible. Many students tend to use music for studying. In this paper, the researcher will analyze the different types of music – classical and dubstep –and their correlation with memorization and recall. The researcher will gather a group of 30 students from Miramar High School. The 30 students will then be separated into three groups – the constant group and two experimental groups—into five students. The constant group will be asked to memorize a list of 10 words for a minute. There will be no music playing during the memorization process and recall. One experimental group will be asked to memorize and recall the list of words while the song “Nocturnes, Op: 6: No. 2 in E-Flat major” (classical) is playing in the background. The second experimental group will be asked to do the same except they will be listening to “Big Boss” by Doctor P (Dubstep). After the researcher conducts the experiments, she will analyze the results collected, and compare the correlation between the different types of music’s influence on memorization and recall. The aim of this research is to find the correlation between listening to music during learning and recall.
Null Hypothesis: The correlation between classical and dubstep music and recall are independent.
Alternative Hypothesis: The correlation between classical and
