Does Talent Really Exist
Does talent really exist?

Good morning ladies and gentleman,

Of course we all do know what we mean when we talk about talent. But do we really know the correct definition of talent?
Let me first tell you the definition, which is written in the dictionary.
Talent is a special natural ability or aptitude also for achievement or success.
This maybe sounds good but I still want to look at the idea of talent existing or not. Before I go on I want to make one thing totally clear. I of course believe that hard work, dedication to craft, reworking etc. are crucial to improving at any activity or profession. In other words I am not talking about whether one improves with a ton of hard work, I am talking about whether any person can be Roger Federer. I’ll sum it up simply: Some people have athletic talent and some don’t. A lot of people have a fair amount but not enough to ever reach a professional level no matter how hard they practice. So in fact based on the theory that talent either doesn’t exist or that hard work negates it, we should really never see much difference in skill level between players at all, should we? And I am not only talking about sports. Lets bring it back into the arts. Some people just have the ability to draw. Without any hard work or anything they can just draw better than the average. It is like a gift from god.
Does talent exist? Yes, it absolutely does. I think talent exists as a multitude of different levels and hard work does absolutely make one better. As we discussed, some of you said that if a human gets born it’s like an unwritten empty book.
Which I don’t think is true, because everyone carries specific genes clusters of attitudes, and they get tuned over the years. Most of us will probably never discover their hidden skills, but they still exist.

    Dillard Working Hard

Annie Dillard is an amazing author and writes about her experience of working hard and how it pays off. I 100% agree with Dillard’s beliefs about talent and if you work hard towards your goal to achieve it, then it will be much more rewarding in the end. Now a day’s people in society feel like ones’ talent just comes naturally without really having to work for them at all. This is exactly the opposite of what Annie’s perspective was on talents. Society today wants the easy way out and they don’t want to work hard to achieve their goal. If one is not born with a talent and it is not natural to them then they feel as if the talent wasn’t meant for them. In Dillard’s writings, she tries her best to relate to her readers to help them understand the message she is trying to convey.…

Everyone has their talents, whether it be drawing, writing, or playing a sport. No one was born with these abilities. To get to where they are now, they would have had to work. Like Doodle from The Scarlet Ibis, Waverly from Rules of the Game, or even Isaiah Bird. They all worked to be the best at what they do. Therefore abilities are not predetermined and that people do have control over them.…

Creativity can be defined in many different ways because it is such a broad term. "It has been known to some as the step-child of psychology. This statement characterizes the historically difficult relationship existent between gifted individuals and society and, between science and creativity research" (Bergquist, "A Comparative View of Creativity Theories", p.1). Therefore, gifted individuals, in any area of creativity, are the ones who show the most creativity; those who are creative are gifted in whatever they do.…

The study of such intangibles has been defined as “technical achievement”, which can also be applied to skills other than musical, other popular trends in research being talent in mathematics and athletics. As Levitin (2006) points out, scientists seeking an answer as to whether these talents are scientifically justifiable “define talent as something (1) that originates in genetic structures; (2) that is identifiable at an early stage by trained people who can recognize it even before exceptional levels of performance have been acquired; (3) that can be used to predict who is likely to excel; and (4) that only a minority can be identified as having,”…

In fact I think anyone who is a modern artist is a genius. It’s a great way to make money and you need no skills at all. All you need to do is get some paint, get some friends to come over to your house and throw paint on a canvas. It’s a fun thing to do with friends and you can become famous doing it. Only problem is you might have to share your easy money with your friends. It’s so easy to do that even a 4 year old can be an internationally acclaimed artist. A young girl…

Art. It is not just one particular thing to one particular person. It comes in various forms, shapes, and sizes. Forms such as, drawing, painting, sculpting, writing, fine arts, music, photography, and the list could go on. Art is a way to express ones feelings without the artist actually stating how they feel. Everyone does not need to have a specific "talent" in art, because it is a form that flows through everyone and not one way is right or wrong, just simply opinions. I don't feel someone can put a rubric on art because art is simply what the artist wants. Unlike Hollywood, high school, and certain things in life, someone's art is not necessarily trying to impress someone else, but rather express what the artist feels. Possibly the artist is trying to say something through their artwork, or maybe they are just finding ways to express their imagination. Art is a huge part of my life. My clothes, my sketches, my photographs; my own creations that form together and show to others a part of just who I am. I enjoy every form of art and often find myself doodling if I am bored. My grandfather was an artist and he passed the love for art down through several generations. As a student of photography I found out how hard it actually is to develop a successful picture. Along with one picture, follows several steps to developing it, many reprints, and some frustration. I really enjoyed this class and I've learned that what began as my curiosity of photography, led to the broadening of my mind to other forms of art. If I had to predict my future I would assume that my life consists of a lot of art. Such a small word brings much more meaning than some people…

The past few years talents shows has invaded your television screen. You been filled up whit; broken dreams, cracked ambitions, family tragedies, tone-deaf girl and sometimes even real talent. You may love- or hate it, but one thing is for sure, you can't certainly ignore it. It’s appearing everywhere; in the radio, newspaper and magazines. Even when you are shopping in the supermarket, you can't avoid them. But what was it that made Talent shows so incredible large? You, or more exact the audience your a part of. Because as we all know, the Talent show industry isn't run by the will of for fill small little girls dreams or giving and old man a extra shoot in show business, but by the money its making on the audience. So as the audience that basically runs the industry, shouldn't we have some kind of responsibility for it? Of course we should, but sadly enough I think that not even half of us gives it a though. I think it has become a part of our culture, and there for widely accepted. Its just recently it appeared in the public debate. The main question there is, whether the concept is a dream or nightmare. If you ask me, I would say it is in-between. It depends on which perspective you see it from. If your point of view comes from the producers, the industry is like one of does dreams, which is to good to be truth. They can earn tons of money easy and fast. But if you see it more from the humane view, you start to notice some cracks in the dream. The shows lay an enormously press on the competition, which sometimes leads to nervous breakdown or other mental uncomfortable things. Last year DR1 employed a psychologist to see if the competitions was ready for the pressure, but still there was people who broke down on national television. When I saw a girl crying, after her dream had been crushed, I found myself asking, why do we even se those kinds of shows? The answer is easy. Its entertainment on a very high level. You get the whole in one, the…

Has talent been dissipated in this sudden boom of talent hunts or has it not yet been doomed to a sordid existence? Almost every alternate day, a reality show camouflaged as a ‘talent hunt’ is launched. Have we not noticed that these talent hunts can at times be even more illusory than fiction? At one point of time, two persons are busy fighting with each other showering one another with all the expletives in all the languages they speak – and the very next minute they are capable of behaving like long-lost friends, hugging, kissing and even touching each others’ feet, all in stark contrast to the blood-thirsty wolves they were just a minute back! Not to forget here the famous “vote for me”…
