In April of 1948, João Batista Pereira de Almeida, a Brazilian citizen, and Kenneth E. Demarest, an American citizen, two attorneys dedicated to the legal profession, combined their expertise to establish what would become one of the leading law firms in Brazil and one of the largest in Latin America. Over time, other attorneys joined the firm, bringing diverse legal backgrounds and specialties, and contributing to the development and growth of the full service firm it is today.
