Seuss graduated Dartmouth and then went to Oxford University in England determined to become a professor. But one night, Theodor and some friends were caught drinking in their dorm room, which was in violation of prohibition law, and was then kicked off the magazine staff, Jack-O-Lantern. Theodor was no longer allowed to contribute cartoons, but continued on his own using disguised names such as Dr. Seuss! He began his career by advertising his cartoons like Quick, Henry, and The Flit! While he was at Oxford, he met Helen Palmer, his future wife, whom he married in the year 1927. The world knows him for the famous Dr. Seuss; but really there is more to it. His true story brings a sort of thought to mind when his books are read. There are many very inspirational poets out there including Geisel but Geisel was different. He made the environment seem alive and colorful with his books. Children across the continent would actually want to open a book and read because of the way he wrote. It wasn’t just a book; it was a book of fun.
