Dr. Seuss was a unique type of author compared to most. Some might say he was an author of the ages, he has incorporated several deep themes in his children's books inspired by several world events throughout his time, like the world wars, the cold war, and even things not even closely associated with war like environmental problems. however over it all, he's an author that will be known throughout all of time to come.
Born as Theodor Seuss Geisel on March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts from parents Theodor Robert Geisel, successful brew-master, and Henrietta Seuss Geisel. The Sneetches was heavily influenced by world war II, by how there was extreme prejudice and racism towards the Jewish individuals of the country and in the world. Pamela M. goes into detail stating
“The Sneetches is a story regarding discrimination and being judged simply because of how you were born. The sneetches are separated by star belly sneetches and starless belly sneetches. The star belly sneetches are those that have all the power and social dominance, whereas the sneetches with no star on their belly are disregarded and therefore the outcasts of the society. The sneetches are a message of racism and consumer culture.”
