(page 144) “to understand that the Dream Team job was a tough one, at least in the beginning, one must remember, again, that this began as a chemical mystery,” which was soon dropped, because everyone controlled (most) their egos for a common goal, which lead to a great teammate chemistry.
So there wouldn’t be fights among the team there were
people who were in charge when it came to controlling the team and according to McCallum he says, “So as far as leading the team out, talking to the press, representing us, all that stuff, it was Magic… But once we got in the gym? It was all Michael (Page 145).” Eventually the team got so good that McCallum comments that “The Dream Team started to get bored with blowouts (Page 184).” The Dream team went onto winning the gold and as a result have become the best sports team to ever be created, and McCallum endorses that “the Dream Team will never be replicated (page 322). ” McCallum believes that with teamwork you can reach a common goal. In the world of sports you mostly have to work together to win. You can’t always do things by yourself, it doesn’t matter if you’re the best player in the world you still need teammates just like how Jordan had Pippen, and Smith writes “Jordan was by this point almost fully invested in Pippen as a worthy teammate-almost being the operative word, because they did have their moments (page 251).” Egos may have an effect on teammate chemistry like with Magic Smith comments “That’s what some of his teammates loved about Magic-the fact that he would hold shoulder responsibility. That’s also what some of his teammates hated about Magic-the fact that it was always his team (page 129). ” Why do you think the Dream was so successful? They even went as far to not even care about the minutes they got. Smith adds that Michael said “We’re here to win, and nobody is going to care about playing time Chuck (page 147).” “From that point on the Dream Team became a team, finding its own identity, cutting corners that could be cut, discovering those little important details (page 153).” They certainly didn’t have any trouble on the court according to the book McCallum points out “having defeated their eight opponents by the absurd average of 43.8 points, would wear to the medal ceremony. (page 293)” They couldn’t have done all of that without being a team. Now they’ll forever be remembered as a team that changed the NBA and the world. As a kid I always liked reading. I would always read graphic novels or a book about sports. That has changed since I grew up. I don’t really read the much anymore. I don’t know why but I just don’t. Whenever I’m reading I try to look at keywords and see how it connects to the reading. Doing that technique helps me understand more what the story is about. That technique really helped me grew as a reader. As long as I’m reading a topic that I like and the story keeps me engaged I will stay engaged with story
