More than likely your child’s later life will be affected if you let them start drinking at a young age (Albernaz G.2.). Starting out drinking at a young age affects your later life because you will keep drinking from the age you start until you’re an old adult. If you’re a single parent you’re giving your child a higher level percentage of an alcohol problem, but if your parents are together it’s a lower level percentage (Albernaz G.2.). There is only a number of college students of the legal age who are supplying the alcohol for the rest of the students. College chancellors from different colleges have signed a petition in 2008 that has not passed yet in support of lowering the drinking age for their student’s rights to the age 18 (Ogilvie E.1.).
These chancellors or deans have been in support off lowering the drinking age to decrease binge drinking on college campuses as well as encouraging responsible drinking behaviors (ProQuest Staff). They are in support of this act because they want to change the policies that affect their students in anyway in order for them to enjoy that specific college campus (“Why Colleges”).
Chancellors believe that by bringing alcohol into an open social sphere, the students will learn to drink responsibly since they won’t have to rush to drink before events (“Why Colleges”). These students have been rushing into drinking fast because most do not want to get into trouble for drinking so they get as drunk as they can before games where they are making bad decisions. By having drinking on college campuses and in the college dorms student could be watched by the college advisors to make it safer for them (“Why Colleges”).
