Dangerous Habits of Drivers

Drivers with bad driving habits are most likely to have accidents. Accidents could lead to serious injuries or even death. To prevent accidents, drivers need to have a responsible attitude and a level of maturity, when given this privilege. These accidents occur when the driver’s concentrating less on the vehicle and more on the things around them. Driving is a major part of life, but some habits like using cell phones, over speeding, and drinking and driving could be known as abusing the right of driving.

Firstly, talking and texting while driving is a major addiction that could lead to accidents. When talking on the phone one could certainly lose the concentration needed for driving. It’s definitely hard to be aware of two things at a time, but some people don’t realize this, because of over confidence. Texting while driving could also lead to loss of control on car. This most likely happens when one is using both hands to text and is also looking down on the phone. If there is no control of the steering wheel by the driver, the consequences could lead to death. Fortunately, the solution for talking on phone has been found! The use of Bluetooth could help save lives. It is considered good because you don’t have to hold the phone, and so it saves many lives.

Secondly, another bad habit is when a person drives the car over the speed limit. This is considered a bad habit because there will be less control on the vehicle, since it’s going at such a fast speed. When driving at faster speed, there is more chance of collisions with other cars. If the cars collide with fast speed there will be more destruction and injuries since they collided with more force. By driving faster than the speed limit, there is more chance of a person’s life being at risk. Their life would be at risk for two reasons: there could be an accident and the police could bust them.

Lastly, drinking and driving is the worst habit, in my opinion. Drinking and

Texting requires visual, manual and cognitive attention from the driver. It is by far the biggest and top distraction globally. They are making the cars with more elaborate control that can protect, notify, and avoid collisions. When picking up the small gadget and placing in the palm if a driver to send a text only takes 5 seconds, if they were going 55 mph that would enough to cover an entire football field blindfolded. Just removing eyes off the road for a second can increase the chances of crashing, texting or talking on the phone just doubles those chances. In a recent survey, 48% of the people admitted to talking or texting while driving but 58% admitted that they continued to do it. Texting and driving is not only a distraction; it’s a manipulative process to the brain allowing anyone to think that they can text and drive and nothing will happen. In some cases, people do get lucky and nothing happens, but it’s still very frowned upon. When eyes are removed off the road, they become distracted and anything could…

Cell phone use in the car is just as dangerous as drunk driving. “[W]hether it’s hand-held or hands-free, [it] delays a driver 's reactions as much as having a blood alcohol concentration at the legal limit of .08 percent” (Statistics and Facts About Distracted Driving). A person on the phone may get distracted or carried away with the conversation, making it a dangerous drive. When on the phone, people do not look carefully and do not notice their surroundings. Instead, they are fixated on the conversation that they are having with the person on the other side of the line. Many collisions and even deaths have resulted from this careless behavior. There have been “32,000 traffic accidents caused by distracted drivers,” says The AAA Foundation of Traffic Safety that released a study by the University of North Carolina Highway…
