Communicating with others is what the majority of people do. Naturally, we all seek to share opinions, thoughts, and ideas. A prime way of doing so is through texting. Sending and receiving messages have become a great way to express yourself without actually “talking” to some one. It has become so popular that for some it has even become a problem. Unfortunately with texting being so convenient, it comes with its negative aspects as well.
People feel the pressure to remain in constant contact even behind the wheel. The dependency on such a thing has become a serious and dangerous dilemma. Cell phones have become a part of people’s lives so much. We live in a generation with instant information and gratification that sometimes we become pressured by others to update what we are up too, or what we are doing throughout our day.
For most part, the lack of understanding and immaturity is also another factor to add in. Teens legally get their licenses at the age of 16. Your frontal lobe is considered to not be fully “developed” until you are 21. The frontal lobes act as the decision maker. It is the part that makes you ask yourself if what you are doing is a good decision or not. At such a young age and not having the frontal lobes fully connected, it makes it harder to process thoughts such as texting and driving, and effects that can follow it.
Motivational speaker Anthony Robbins once said “it is in your moments of decisions that your destiny is shaped.” Like everything in life it come with effects weather they are good or bad it is how you handle it. Within the blink of an eye, texting while driving can result in some very negative means. Drivers who text and drive are risking their lives, as well as others. Your decision can have a major impact on another human begins when the attention is taken off the road and on to the phone. Most time people do not take in to consideration the after result of what can happen while texting and driving.
