Drops Of Jupiter Analysis
The song I chose to analyze was “Drops of Jupiter” by Train. I first heard the song when I fifteen years old. I was warming up in my dance class, and as soon as I heard the first verse, I immediately fell in love. I never listened to any songs from Train or have been interested in this genre of music, but this song has been in my playlist for as long as I can remember.
Everyone interprets a song differently, but I believe this was meant to be a love song. Beneath the catchy lyrics and upbeat rhythm lies a bed of sorrow and heartache. The overall message of the song to me was people who you love may leave you to pursue their dreams and you should always cherish the memories, but be strong enough to let go. I believe people who just went through

I enjoy listening to this song anyways as it is in my native language and one of my top childhood songs. The song is about a couple who is in love with each other but when the guy has to leave for the US, they broke up. He later returns and the love is still there. This is a very cute story and I love singing the lyrics that describes his feelings for her as he was away. If I broke up and get back together with my boyfriend, I would want this to be our scenario, that we broke up and got back together because of distance or circumstances, not because we wanted this. I also love how there are english lyrics sung with deep emotion in the song: “I will be back for you.” The music video for the song is also very heartwarming and brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it. If I got back together with my ex, I could listen to this song to remind me of my feelings for him. This song is a great song that evokes strong emotions from me and makes me think about love and how strong it is to overcome lots.…

At first I thought that the music was not in tandem with these lyrics at all. The lyrics have such depression in them at first while the music itself is so peppy and upbeat. I could not understand how they worked together. That for me was the site of struggle. Hegemonic norms tell us that songs about death and sadness should be slow and heavy. This song has such energy to it and resists hegemonic norms so that it couldn’t possibly fall into the category of death. I listened to the song a few more times and I realized that the song was not just a sad retelling of a story, but it is a memorial of…

This song acknowledges young people, such as women, that they are still powerful no matter what they have gone through. A message would relate to not allowing a man to change who you are. One being themselves is the best they can be. Young minds will see that women are not sticks, or flowers like Wollstonecraft stated, that you can easily break; Women are strong as steel, something that is difficult to break and bend. Just with one person being out of their lives does not completely break us down.…

One of the songs I chose is named “Mi Gente”, which is an Urban Latin/pop song which is frequently played at South-American parties (From personal experience). Mi Gente is an upbeat song which happens to be in the top 20 songs in Canada. I feel this song relates to me on a personal level in multiple ways. For instance, listening to the song with no meaning other than to enjoy the song, it would probably sound pleasant or delightful. Though if you examine the lyrics thoroughly, you will uncover the deeper meaning (one example being “From corner to corner, but I have it in my hand”). This song exemplifies me because maybe the first couple times you meet me, I might seem calm or ordinary, but if you really…

The song starts out with a strang questioning of reality: “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, No escape from reality, Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see”. They first two lines are rhetorical questions. They help establish the state of mind needed in order to continue with the song. The third line is a metaphor. It means everything is crashing down on him, and he cannot escape it. It seems to conclude that he is caught between a dream and awakening. The next couple set of lines are being used as transitions into the main part of stanza one, “I’m just a poor boy, I need no sympathy, Because I’m easy come, easy go, Little high, little low, Any way the wind blows, Doesn’t really matter to me, to me”. In the third and fourth line repetition is used in order to keep the lyrics flowing. The boy thinks his life doesn’t matter to anyone, his life is meaningless and the Earth does not care what happens to him. He does not care what happens next, he just wants it over; “any way the wind blows” him, he will go and it “doesn’t really matter” to him anymore. The next three lines show intent to kill by the boy, “Mama, just killed a man, Put a gun against his head, Pulled my trigger, now he’s dead”. The boy has finally come to terms of what he has…

The lyrics aren’t just narrating the lives of Lisa, Nicole and Erica; it is narrating what millions of children are going through. This song portrays real life situations and I can guarantee you that every word in verse 1, 2 and 3 are completely true from the part where Lisa gets sexually abused to where Nicole is harassed by her step father. Firstly, generalizing about the lyrics of this song, it is about a broken heart guy just got dumped by a girl, who did not love him and made him suffer a lot. I can see in the lyrics that this guy is very sad and depressed, which are the same to a breakdown stage in a relationship like every other unhappy couples. According to Wood, this breakdown stage is called dyadic processes, which contains breakdown of everything that create the relationship. In other words, he is suffering in the breakdown processes. I quite understand his feeling because I was a broken heart before. I believe that most of the teenagers have somehow experienced this matter because every relationship contains many different dramatic moments such as crying, fighting, and misunderstanding.…

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. It is twice as large as all the other planets combined. It has 28 known satellites. The earliest discovered moons date back to 1610 and were discovered by Galileo. This is of interest because a future mission to Jupiter is named after this astronomer. Most of the remaining moons were discovered in the 20th century with advancement of technology. Some are discovered using better telescopes and others with missions directed towards Jupiter. Some of the more recently discovered moons are yet to be named. All that we know of Jupiter couldn 't possibly have come form just observation. Some have come by spacecraft passing by Jupiter on their way to other missions and some of the most comprehensive…

The poem discusses the funeral of a woman and how she is presented in her funeral as someone people would be more likely to romanticize than what she actually was, perhaps out of a misguided sign of respect. The other more hidden meaning behind the poem is the author's reaction to the women herself and how she is portrayed in almost a spiteful, angry way because of his anger over her wasting her life in gray dullness.…
