Have you ever read a book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez? Gabriel writes short stories. Two very good ones that Gabriel have written are “The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World” and “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings”. They are two very interesting stories that compare and contrast each other in multiple different ways.
The story “The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World” is a very interesting one. It is about a man who’s dead body washes up onto shore and the townspeople find it and they treat the dead body like it was family and then they send the dead body out onto sea. The towns people in the story name the dead man Esteban. In the story "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" they do not name the old man. In “The
Handsomest Drowned Man in the World” they treat him like he was their family and not like a complete stranger whose body washed up on shore. In "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" they treat the old man horribly even though they believe that he is an angel.
There were more contrast than just the ones mentioned in the above paragraph. In "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" they use the old man to earn money by charging people money to come see him. In “The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World” they do not use the extremely big man to make money. They actually pretty much give all of their money and savings to the dead man by making him clothes to fit him and by making him a raft to float away on. They stockpile the raft with different objects that are worth of value to them.
The two paragraphs directly above this one gave the contrasts between the two stories. This paragraph will give the comparisons between the two stories.
