Methamphetamine Abuse
The report of Methamphetamine is an artificial painkiller with more rapid long-lasting effects than amphetamine, used illegally as an intoxicant and as a prescription drug to treat narcolepsy and maintain blood pressure. Methamphetamine is a drug that kills slowly, but surely and along the way it has many severe health complications. This drug has nearly up to eight or more slang words that are used in the street. Methamphetamine is defined as meth, speed, crank, zip, chalk, ice, crystal it is a drug classification: schedule II, stimulant according to (Stubenrauch,2006).
There are various ways that people can consume methamphetamine by: inhaling the stimulant or scorching it, swallowing (pill), sniffing, and even shooting

    Meth has a major impact on those who choose to use the drug, as well as those around them. It is considered a super stimulant. Meth alters an addict’s physical appearance. Meth also leads to poor hygiene, broken, and rotten teeth, also known as “meth mouth”. The video shows the gradual decay of a person’s physical appearance and the amount of open sores that appear to worsen as a person continues to use this drug. The open sores are a result of hallucinations in which the person imagines bugs crawling beneath their skin, also known as formication. The drug also results in impaired healing and a weakened immune system. Poor hygiene also leads to rotting and missing teeth. Meth affects the part of the brain that produces dopamine, and eventually the brain no longer can produce dopamine on its own so the addict then uses methamphetamine in an attempt to reach the same euphoric state and the cycle of addiction continues. Meth not only produces a euphoric high but also gives the user an increased energy level, along with a decrease in appetite.     The origin of methamphetamine in the U.S. started on the west coast in the state of Oregon. This is a man-made drug that is easily “cooked” in kitchens across the U. S. Pseudoephedrine is the main chemical ingredient in the drug and also the key component of cold remedies such as Sudafed. The Pseudoephedrine is combined with other chemicals readily available in gas, rubbing alcohol, or drain cleaners. The effects of the drug are of a distinct deteriorating effect. Some people have nicknamed it “meth mouth” where the user’s teeth have blackened and stubbed due to lack of oral hygiene. It causes the elasticity in the skin to go away so the skin sags causing the user to look decades older than they really are. Sores develop on the body, because meth users sometimes see hallucinations of bugs crawling under their skin, and so they try to scratch something that isn’t there. Their immune system isn’t what it used to be since they are poisoning the body, therefore it seems that the common meth user always has a visible sore or two on the body.
