Teens are being affected by drugs every day. Teens see drugs no matter where they go. They see them in movies, ads on t.v. and on billboards, and on video games so there surrounded by them. 35.1% of 12th graders have admitted to smoking marijuana this past year. Seniors in highschool are smoking marijuana more than smoking a cigarette. It’s not only affecting seniors, kids in middle school are also using. Thats people my age using drugs. Marijuana isn’t the only drug that kids are using, but one that has come up lately is painkillers, and opioids. Painkillers can be very dangerous if you get addicted to them. There has to be a way we can teach teens and show them what they really can do to you.

There has been a couple of deaths of teens that have died because they used an opioids. Opioids are used for treating pain, but they can be very misused by teens. In 2014 approximately 168,000 adolescents were addicted to painkillers. According to Teen Rehab Center about 44 people a day die because of painkiller, and that’s including teens. Opioids are depressants, which slows down the part of the brain that controls breathing. If you take a large amount of opioid painkillers, it can slow down your breathing and could cause you to go into a coma and could lead to death. Opioids are good when you use them in the correct way. Teens are exposed to drugs every single day. There’s no escaping the fact that there is a problem. Just follow some of the rules and you can start to get rid of your addiction. Marijuana is a huge deal of teen drug abuse, I know marijuana will never go away but we need to try to get our numbers down for the amount of kids using it. Opioids and painkiller are mostly in everyone's household, we need to teach kids that they are not supposed to be taken unless the doctor tells you or if you in pain. This lesson can also tie into human geography because if all the teens are using drugs there won’t be enough people to work those jobs and our economy would crash
