Abstract
Drug addiction and drug abuse a chronic and habitual use of any chemical substance to alter states of the body and your mind for other than medical warranted reasons. The definition of addiction is a physical dependency and withdrawal have been modified with increased understanding; other drugs, such as cocaine, that are psychologically addicting. Definition of drug abuse is subjective and infused with the political and moral values of the society or culture. The stimulant caffeine in coffee and tea are drugs that are used by millions of people every day. Despite the fact that caffeine is physically addictive, is not generally considered drug abuse. Some narcotics addiction is only seen as drug abuse in certain social contexts. The United States has the highest substance abuse of any industrialized nation.
