In 2015 Shkreli raised the price of the drug Daraprim in one night. The drug price was raised by 5000% causing the medication to be bumped up to $13.50 pill to the wallet eating price of $750 a pill stated by (Seidman). With this action, came along with a giant controversy and national backlash. Many people were voicing their opinions on the fact that, why can drug companies do this without getting into trouble. Also, the main question came up, why isn't there any laws against to prevent this from happening. One reason for this is because there are not many laws to prevent this from happening. Shkreli used a technique called Price Gouging, which allows the maker of a product increase the price to any number that they want. He took the advantage he had on the drug to raise the cost to the $750 price that it is at right now. The public view on this, is that there should have been laws in the first place to prevent anything like this from happening, if there weren't any laws before. It is a real shame that a legitimate business is able to scam people out of their money, but many people do not have the option to stop buying medications, because their lives depend on the medication. There has be laws made to keep this kind of event from happening again. A recommendation to first start doing is to make and pass laws to keep the pharma industry under control. The most obvious start would be to start focusing on the method of “price gouging”. Laws against this kind of practice would make Turing and other big pharma companies from ever doing this again. Also, it should force the companies to lower their prices once again. With this action the Turing and other drug makers can still make a profit, while at the same time it can allow people to once again relax that they can buy the medications without worrying about their health or their wallets. According to my theory this could really help the people of the world, and to put an end to any type of fast money making schemes that Turing, or any other companies can't use. Though they might find a loop through this idea, but the law and the people need to keep with the common practices. Whether they are new or old. If this can happen this idea could put a strain on Turing, Mylan, and any other companies from coming up with something similar to Price Gouging. But it will always remain a constant battle, because no matter how many laws, or regulations are passed . Companies will always try to find loopholes in the
