Advanced medical directives are documents where a patient have a chance to determine in advance how his health treatment will be conducted in case he/she will incapable to communicate to medical providers. They are two main advanced medical directives.
A Durable Power Of Attorney for Health Care: this is an advanced medical directive whereby a patient choose one person who will be responsible for medical decision in case he/she will not be able to communicate or to speak. This patient is called a principle while the chosen person is called an agent. The main types of elder care includes physical abuse, emotional abuse and sexual abuse.
Physical abuse include prescription of wrong medication, physical assaults, extreme use of chemical or physical restraint. Prescription of needless drugs is also considered as physical abuse. Physical abuse may risk into broking bones of the care recipient, blistering of the skin, Cuts or scratches, internal/external injuries and vomiting due to wrong medication and son on.
Emotional abuse which is hard to recognize include verbal abuse. This talking negatively to a care recipient by weakening his/her self-esteem. Probate is a legal process to terminate died person affair by deciding whether or not the person’s will was made correctly through the court. This process also include paying debt/taxes that the person has any, conducting a property appraisal, inspecting the person’s property and distributing it according to his will (National Caregivers, n.d.).
Wills/estate planning is so important for adult people to insure their affaire will be implemented as they want after their death. Its other importance include the following:
