About fifteen to twenty percent of the United States population (International Dyslexia Association). Dyslexia is a condition that is not visible to the naked eye it is internal and linguistic. Many people do not discover they have dyslexia until they are well into adulthood. Dyslexia it is not something that you can obtain or “catch” from another person, you are born with it. Dyslexia is a generic condition If dyslexia runs in the family there is a good chance the children will be dyslexic (Dyslexia Basics). A human brain is separated in lobes each lobe having a different purpose and job. The frontal lobe, the largest part of the brain, is responsible for reading, writing, speaking, emotions, etc. Dyslexia impacts this lobe and interrupts its process , specially the left frontal lobe, causing trouble with all the jobs the lobe is responsible for (LD Online). Difficulty can occur in the social and emotional aspects of life. Dyslexia often leaves children out of actives and social life because they do not understand a witty joke, miss social cues, and have trouble finding the right words (Emily Lapkin). Dyslexic children may not understand body language or expressions very well and feel lost. Dyslexic people have trouble controlling emotions like anxiety, anger, and self-consciousness. Anxiety is the most frequent emotion reported by people with dyslexia they become fearful from the constant confusion and frustration. Anger is also a big problem caused by academic situations and social problems. A dyslexic person’s self-conscious is extremely vulnerable because of the frustration and anxiety. Also, many students bully children with dyslexia because they a seen as different and awkward. The children begin to believe the things people say because they do not know better (Ryan and International Dyslexia Association 2-3).
