Thank you, for sharing the challenges your program is currently facing indoors and outdoors. The program that I currently work for uses the assessment tool Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-R) which is designed to assess process quality in an early childhood (UNC). My first question is does the program you currently work for implementing the ECERS-R assessment tool? My second question is are you familiar with the ECERS-R assessment tool? ECERS-R helps programs provide care and education that “permits children to experience high quality and develop their abilities” (UNC). For instance, it helps to assess the accessibility of a child with a wheel chair. Additionally, some of the focuses that the assessment tool ECERS-R
places emphasis on is building positive relationships, learning experiences, and safety.
Also, I wanted to share with the resource called California Early Childhood Online that the program I work for uses to “educate us on best practices in early education” (CECO). For instance, it has a module titled preschool physical development. The module talks about developmentally appropriate practices that will assist to promote young children’s physical development.
