In the Army, Edgar looked up to his squad leaders and every soldier that was above him, but there was one person he looked up to the most, “I looked forward to every squad leader… especially Sergeant Higgins, he was my team leader, squad leader, he was my boss and he died in 2007 during war.” Edgar was a very tough man on the inside, holding a heart of tranquillity, as a role model he looked up to passed away. Through all he's been through, Edgar was questioned on what he would change if he were to go back in time, Edgar sure of his answer stood straight up and proclaimed, “I don't think I would change anything cause the man I became today is because of the stuff and experience I went through before.” Overlooking the crucial events he went through, Edgar realizes that he is here today because of those momentous events. Currently, he has a house, three loving children and a beautiful wife who he loves with his entire heart. Although it seems as if Edgar is just going to rest his curly brown-haired head on his comfortable couch and relax in his earned home, he has stuff he wants to finish, “I want to finish my college, I got two years in of college, but I want to finish the criminal justice so later I can become a police officer.” Edgar yet again wants another job. His willingness to get back into studies shows his effort to fight failure. Instead of regretting doing two years of college, he is now benefiting from those two years.The Army has taught Edgar a lot of constructive lessons, but has also changed him entirely as a person. In the midst of being asked how the Army changed him, Edgar with a sense of pride remarked, “The Army made me stronger character wise, it helped me a lot to become more independent and
