Kimberly, I enjoyed reading your post and I concur, an employer should assess the employee’s initial competence. Additionally, increasing competencies via education and making staff accountable has contributed to positive results for both the patients and employers (Esper & Walker, 2014). Throughout my research I learned that the employer benefits the most by educating and standardizing care processes as a best practice. Standardizing care process prevents delays and variations of care that may lead to poor outcomes (Cherry & Jacobs, 2014).
