1.1 INTRODUCTION
The Islamic republic of Pakistan emerged as an independent sovereign state on 14th August 1947, as a result of the division of former British India. It lies between 23-35 to 37- 05 north latitude and 60-50 to 77- 50 east longitude touching the Hindukush Mountains in the north and extending from the Pamirs to the Arabian Sea.
Pakistan is situated at the junction of three major regions of Asia: Central Asia to the north, the Middle East to the west and the Indian Subcontinent to the east and southeast. Pakistan covers 796,095 km2 with a population of about 180 million. Amongst this high load of population, around 64% of country population is living in rural vicinity with lack of sufficient resources for their life.
The country is divided into eight administrative units i.e. provinces/regions:

1.2 Definition of education
Since time immemorial, education is estimated as the right road to progress and prosperity. Different educationists’ thoughts from both Eastern and Western side have explained the term ‘education’ according to the need of the hour. Various educationists have given their views on education. Some important definitions are:
Dr. Zakir Hussain: “Education is the process of the individual mind, getting to its full possible development.”
Albert Einstein: “Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.”
Rousseau: “Education is the child’s development from within.”
Aristotle: “Education is the creation of sound mind in a sound body.”
Plato: “Education is the capacity to feel pleasure and pain at the right moment.”
Pestalozzi: “Education is natural, harmonious and progressive development of man’s innate powers.”
Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
