One of the projects completed during P2 IPPEs for students at SDSUs pharmacy program is to complete a patient education assignment in the form of a written document. For this assignment, I chose to complete this assignment by doing the assignment in a newsletter format. This is the accompanying rational behind why certain choices were made and what objectives I wanted to accomplish

For my newsletter, my target audience is middle aged individuals ages 40 to 60s whom may have been just diagnosed with hyperlipidemia or have higher than normal lipid levels. My newsletter is intended for people who are not medically inclined and need an introduction to high cholesterol and to prepare them for what some of the tactics

I decided to utilize a web based newsletter in the form of a top 10 list but with less points and more background information. I selected this topic because many of the people who have hyperlipidemia or are pre-hyperlipidemia are likely in the 40 to 60 year old range and are likely to be on the internet possibly interested in this topic. Instead of pushing this information on a patient in the clinic setting, a patient may be more willing to read it if posted on the internet, and a larger audience could be reached. One of the more popular items to look at on the internet is top ten lists. I figured I could make my topic more interesting and engaging the intended audience by making a list with a little introduction to encourage patients into reading the newsletter opposed to marketing it as something …show more content…

If I were to do this project again that’s what I would make it shorter and have it reviewed by a

On October 1, 2014, a 56 year old man, Mr. Brown, came in for his follow-up appointment to talk about his cholesterol panel. Mr. Brown’s cholesterol levels are not within healthy standards and he needs to change his life style before his health diminishes. Mr. Brown likes to eat and hates to exercise. I am going to show him his cholesterol levels so that he can see what he is doing to his body. If he does not get his cholesterol levels where they need to be his arteries might get so clogged up that he could have a heart attack or stroke. He needs to do some preventive medicine on his own with a little help from me and my staff.…

Suppose you are tasked with confidentially interviewing members of a retirement community to see who may be at risk for cardiovascular disease. At the same time, you are asked to help educate the retirement community about what they can do to control their risk of developing a cardiovascular disease. Use the template below to design an interview form you would be able to take to members of the retirement community (age 60 and up). Refer to Ch. 7 of the text, and this week’s articles on cardiovascular health. Remember—you will come into contact with seniors from all walks of life, so write questions that are direct, yet friendly. Apply judgment when writing questions; you cannot possibly cover all forms of cardiovascular disease with one 10-question interview.…

I will be attempting to write in a word paper and address some issues of communication modalities that are used as marketing in health care. There are a lot of different ways that medical providers can use such services as a web- based forum, e-mails, or even electronic medical records software to communicate better with their consumers or patients. Instead of just addressing one; I have decided to talk about each of these communication modalities used in health care today. I will begin each paragraph by providing information pertaining to each of these modalities in how each one has some benefits to them as well as to how important it is for medical providers to have some kind of a communication available to them. I will address each one of them in full detail so that a better awareness will be gained in the end of this paper.…
