Snowmen harmed the United States Edward Snowden harmed the United States by warning them. He warned them that they were being watch. So everyone was careful now to not get caught. Some people even stopped using technology to avoid trouble. Edward Snowden harmed the United States because he warned people, copied classified information, and made terrorist change their meaning of communication. Edward Snowden warned people. Snowden had told everyone including congress that the N.S.A was collecting data. In the passage “Edward Snowmen, Whistle-Blower” it says “The director of national intelligence, lied to congress when testifying in March that the N.S.A was not collecting data on millions of Americans.” (The Editorial Boardjan)This quote proves my point because he had told congress and now the N.S.A. looks bad for snot saying the truth. The N.S.A. was lying but there has been no discussion of punishment for that lie. After the news that the N.S.A. was collecting data many people had change their form of using the internet so the governor would not know what they are doing. Information is illegal. In the passage The Effects of the Snowden Leaks aren’t what he Intended it says “Among those documents were memoranda and reports detailing how the agency monitors telephone and email data with a foreign connection” (Tom Gjelten) This quote proves my point that he knew about the information and that he could had copied it. He also knew that showing people all around the world was illegal because what he gave was top secret. Snowden has caused damage because nothing will be the same now that people know that they are being monitor. Edward Snowden made terrorist change their meaning of communication.
