CHAPTER I
INTODUCTION
PROBLEM AND ITS BACKROUND
For centuries, men have unceasingly searched for new discoveries and with those new discoveries come forth new technology. Today, the search is long from over despite the fact that there is a wide and fascinating array of gadgets available in the market. Some of these gadgets are portable music players. The evolution of which we have seen from the first models of the Walkman to portable CD players and mp3 players to the many generations and models of Apple’s iPod.2
In today’s modern age gadgets has become a way of life. Gadgets nowadays are a basic need for everyday life style. It helps us a lot by doing things easier and faster. Gadgets help students a lot by doing their projects more productive and progressive. It is a small thing that anyone could have. Having a gadget may help one’s be more productive and intellectual. Nowadays, poor and rich have gadgets like cell phones. A cell phone is a wireless gadget that most people these days communicate with. Gadgets nowadays are a basic need for a student. Gadgets gave a big impact into the history of humanity because of its use.
The history of gadgets spans as far back as humanity itself - since hominids began creating tools to make their lives easier. Humans have always created devices and appliances with specific practical purposes that were initially thought of as novelties, due to unfamiliarity with and initial unwillingness to accept the technology. Today, industry has augmented the creation of new gadgets.4
This study aims to know how gadgets affect the studies of the 4th year students of LJLC. This study will show the researcher how the gadgets can affects the studies of the 4th year students of LJLC as said on the title. As we know, gadgets are now part of our daily basis.
Statement of the problem
This research will attempt to know the effects of gadgets on the studies of the 4th Year High School students of Little Jesus Learning Center.
Specifically, it answers the following questions:
What is gadget?
What are the uses of gadgets?
What are the effects of gadgets?
Do the students use gadgets as an aid for their studies?
What king of gadgets do they use?
Did they attain more knowledge by the help of gadgets?
In what ways did the gadgets helped them?
What are the effects of gadgets in their studies?
Objectives of the study
This study aims to know the effects of gadgets on the studies of the 4th Year High School students of Little Jesus Learning Center.
Specifically, this study aims to:
>To find out what gadget is.
>To find out what are the uses of gadgets.
>To find out what are the effects of gadgets.
>To find out the kinds of gadgets the 4th year students use.
>To find out how the 4th year students maximize the use of gadgets for their studies.
>To find out the usage of gadgets is effective as a tool for studying.
>To find out what are the positive and negative effects of gadgets on the studies of the 4th year students.
Hypothesis of the study
The researcher predicts that the effects of gadgets to the students help them gather more information, access easy communication, research easier, improve their study faster. Gadgets provide vast usefulness on their studies.
Significance of the study
Students:
This proposed study serves the students as the researchers reference and guide in creating this study. These students will be the most benefited by the results of this study. The result can help them to know their limitations or boundaries.
Parents:
This study can help the parents how their child performs on this study. This will show them the facts that their child have undergo in this study.
Teachers:
The study can help the teachers by giving them deeper ideas about the study. This will help them to come up on an easier and powerful program.
Future Researcher:
The study can help and be beneficial to the future researcher as their guide. This can also give them such data and information.
Limitations of the study
The subjects for this study were the 4th year students of LJLC, because of the high percentage of students who use gadgets are found in this level. The researcher aims to limit the study to 40 persons, composed of 20 girls and 20 boys of the 4th year students of Little Jesus Learning Center. The researcher believes that 100% of this class use gadgets in their study. The researcher included in the class was excluded in his study.
Definition of terms
Gadget
An often small mechanical or electronic device with a practical use but often thought of as a novelty.i
Study A state of contemplation. Application of the mental faculties to the acquisition of knowledge. A literary or artistic production intended as a preliminary outline, an experimental interpretation, or an exploratory analysis of specific features or characteristics. ii
Effect
A change that results when something is done or happens. An event, condition, or state of affairs that is produced by a cause. A particular feeling or mood created by something. An image or a sound that is created in television, radio, or movies to imitate something real.iii
Student
A person who attends a school, college, or university. A person who studies something.iv
Information knowledge that you get about someone or something. Facts or details about a subject. A service that telephone users can call to find out the telephone number for a specified person or organization.1
Vast
Very great in size, amount, degree, intensity, or especially in extent or range.2
Research
Careful study that is done to find and report new knowledge about something. The activity of getting information about a subject.3
Theoretical Framework

Fig.1. the theoretical framework shows the vast usefulness of the gadgets. The two pictures on the bottom part represents the students needs, these 2 pictures are connected to the picture of gadgets. This shows that these pictures are can easily accessed by the means of gadgets. The lines connected to the pictures represents the flow of the information that the students achieved by using gadgets. The picture on the top right corner shows that a person is studying hard, then that picture is connected to the gadgets, that means that the guy doing some hard time studying with books can easily do it with gadget. He can gather lots of information by using a gadget as shown in the left upper corner. The top picture shows the result of how the guy gets a high grade by studying with gadgets.
