Writers Workshop Final Draft In Egypt, there were many technological innovations or engineering accomplishments. All of these accomplishments made Egypt what it is today. We can look back at these accomplishments and learn about their everyday life and society.
During the Old Kingdom, the Egyptians built the majestic pyramids at Giza. The pyramids built at Giza were sacred places for the dead pharaohs to be buried. But, sometimes the pyramids were broken into and robbed. The pharaohs Khufu, Khalfre, and Menkaure instructed the Egyptians to build the pyramids. The Egyptians believed in everybody having an afterlife. That is why they preserved the bodies of their dead rulers and provided them with things they would need in their new life. A common tradition for the Egyptians was to mummify a dead body. Mummification means to preserve the body. The pharaoh Tutankhamen was mummified. In 1922, our archaeologists found King Tutankhamen’s dead body.
In 2700 B.C., the Egyptians created the Egyptian Alphabet. The Egyptian Alphabet made things easier to read or write. But, the Egyptian Alphabet was hard to learn. The Egyptian Alphabet was associated with any pharaoh. It was developed by the Phoenicians sometime before 1050 B.C.
All of these technological innovations or engineering accomplishments shows us what the Egyptian society was like. To build the huge pyramids that they built must have taken a lot of hard work. Our society is way different from the Egyptian society. One example is that we do not mummify our dead bodies. The Egyptians do. The Egyptians completed all of these engineering accomplishments to make Egypt what it is
