Egyptian God Compare And Contrast
The idols of ancient Egyptians and the god of the Israelites have many of the same similarities and differences. While the idols of Egypt and the god of the Israelites are both very powerful they have more differences than they do similarities. There are obvious things and harder things to find but it is actually very easy to see what was really different. One of the most obvious things to me was that there idols can die and the god of the Israelites cannot. The idols would be murdered and sometimes die because they would be around humans whereas it says in Deuteronomy thirty-three twenty-seven ‘the eternal lord is your refuge”. Another difference is that the idols are sinful while the god of the Israelites is perfect. The Book of the Dead talks about how there idols are filled with jealousy and rage while the Israelites God is perfect and never sinned. The idol Typhoon killed his brother Osiris out of jealousy so these idols would even murder where the Israelites god wouldn't even lie. The main difference to me is that there are multiple idols and one God. The Israelites god calls himself i am as is he is the one and the only whereas there are over one hundred and fourteen idols. …show more content…
One similarity is there both creators. In Genesis one-one it says god created the heavens and the earth and the idols created their world the same way but with everyone having a specific job. Another similarity is that they both had books, the god of Israel has the bible to explain to man how to get to paradise and the idols have the book of the dead to explain the idols and the world to the people. The biggest similarity to me is that they both have specific ways to be worshiped. They both are worshiped by song and both are given sacrifices by specific animals that were

Along with their outlooks being different, so were the structures of their government and cities. The Mesopotamian civilization was organized in a dozen or more different city states, while the Egyptian civilization maintained unity. This being, cities in Egypt were far less important than in Mesopotamia. Each city-state in Mesopotamia was ruled by a different king, that claimed to be that city's patron deity. The Egyptians were ruled by a pharaoh, believed to be a god in human form. This shows that were ruled in very different ways, by very different people. It also shows how different the structure of their cities were.…

This is evident, because both societies had religions that were polytheistic, which means they worship several gods. There were supreme gods such as the sun god, (Ra), and Osiris, who were Egyptian. Mesopotamian gods included Ishtar. Both civilizations built massive, religious structures such as pyramids, which Mesopotamians called “Ziggurats”. They usually buried powerful rulers or kings in these tombs. Finally, they both made great contributions to writing and language. Mesopotamia and Egypt were one of the first civilizations to make up a writing system. They utilized this writing system to keep track of taxes. Egyptians used forms of hieroglyphics while Mesopotamians used a style of writing called cuneiform. The reason for this similarity is because they needed new ways to record things and communicate with each other. Essentially, these societies are comparable because they both contributed greatly to the world of arts, literature, religion, and architecture and created innovative ideas that allowed others to communicate and share…

Hebrew religion consisted of a single omnipotent god, Yahweh, while the Mesopotamians and Egyptians had multiple gods who each controlled their own section in nature. This means that the Hebrews only had to follow orders from one god, whereas Mesopotamians and Egyptians had to work hard to keep all of the gods happy. If what one god’s orders conflicted with another god’s orders, the people were forced to take sides, and unity would break. This could cause disputes amongst the two sides, and war could potentially break out. Alongside monotheism, the covenant also plays a major role in the structure of Hebrew religion. It is a pact that Abraham made with Yahweh, which both Yahweh and the Hebrew people had to follow. In exchange for land, a great nation, and guidance, the people had to worship Yahweh as their only god. This covenant keeps the Hebrews united, all following one god and one message, instead of listening to a whole pantheon of gods, all with different…

This semester I have conducted research on two of history 's most, in my opinion, distinct and strongest societies. The first one is the civilization of Ancient Egypt. It lasted from 3100BC to 1085BC. That 's about 2,015 years. The second society is the Roman Empire. Rome, as an empire, lasted from 31BC to 476AD. That 's only about 507 years, but that doesn 't span all of Rome 's history as a whole; the Roman Empire is only a portion of Rome 's history. While both of these societies are timeless civilizations, Rome was monotheistic, more technologically advanced, and more economically advanced, while Egypt was polytheistic, more academically advanced, and they still relied…
