The Physicians are trying to accomplish a way to make it easier to get all of the patient’s records when they are needed. The benefits of buying the same EHR product are that they can write orders from their practices for patients who are in the hospital. The other benefit is that if there is an emergency or the physician is covering the emergency room they will be able to tap into other providers EHR systems. The disadvantages of having the same EHR systems as the hospital, you may have a compatibility issue with the rest of your software. The vendors may not understand all the needs of the hospital as well as the physicians and what products will work better for them.
