Advantage are, there will be decrease in repetition of information, time will not be consumed on charting only, information less likely to be destroyed or lost, it improves communication amongst healthcare providers, it also provide more protections and privacy, and it may also increase patients safety through built-in safety features. While disadvantages are, this kind of record keeping is expensive to implement, systems can cause confusion and may be more time consuming, employees may be unwilling or unable to adapt to new technology, it usually requires more maintenance and lastly, system failures may be an issue.
