A number of technologically advanced tools and software were developed to improve the way health care is provided to people. From as old as the X-Ray machines to robotic surgery, medical practices had been continuously fused with modern technologies to introduce new medical tools and equipments for the proliferation of modern medicine. Popular equipment which was invented to mitigate or to completely eliminate medical errors caused by wrong medical records is the EMR or the electronic medical records.

EMR, or Electronic Medical Record, is a computerized medical record which is used to quickly store and delivery a patient’s medical record. A popular example of such is a pediatric EMR used by many pediatricians today. It allows quicker and timely retrieval and modification of a …show more content…
Advantage are, there will be decrease in repetition of information, time will not be consumed on charting only, information less likely to be destroyed or lost, it improves communication amongst healthcare providers, it also provide more protections and privacy, and it may also increase patients safety through built-in safety features. While disadvantages are, this kind of record keeping is expensive to implement, systems can cause confusion and may be more time consuming, employees may be unwilling or unable to adapt to new technology, it usually requires more maintenance and lastly, system failures may be an issue.
EMR can be useful to a specific branch in Medicine. This braches include Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedic, Immunology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Geriatric, Internal medicine, Osteopathic, Pediatric, Pulmonary, Rheumatology, Surgery, Urology and many other branches as well.
There are some service providers that offer EMR for a specific branch of Medicine. Examples of these are the EMREXPERTS, EMR CONSULTANT and REVENUXL, all of which offers OB/Gyn EMR
