Elizabeth's Revenge Analysis

John committed the sin of adultery with Abigail. John is married to Elizabeth. Though John committed this sin does it seem that he is truly sorry for what he did? And does Elizabeth really forgive him of what he had done? In Elizabeth’s position, can someone truly trust a spouse that cheats? Why? Would I give a cheater another chance? Why? Though John committed the sin of adultery, does it seem that he is truly sorry for what he did? I feel as if he is truly sorry. I feel as if he is truly sorry because he cannot forgive himself for what he had done. Not only did John cheat on his wife but if anyone else was to find out, his good name would be ruined. Does Elizabeth really forgive him of what he had done? I don’t think that she had really forgiven him. I think this because even though John is sorry for his sin, she can never trust him again. In Elizabeth’s position, can someone truly trust a spouse that cheats? In my opinion, no. I do not think someone in Elizabeth’s position can truly trust a spouse that cheats because you may not know if they will do it again. The saying these days are, “Once a cheater, always a cheater.” With my experience, that is a true statement, but was it like that
back in the day when all of this had happened? I can’t answer that. I do know that just because you forgive someone, doesn’t mean that you trust them. Just like loving someone. You can love someone and still not trust them. I’m not saying Elizabeth forgave John because she clearly did not but she also does not trust him either. Every relationship is different in their own ways and John and Elizabeth struggled a little bit with his sin but she still loved John. Would I give a cheater another chance?
Depending on the situation I would. For example, Elizabeth was pregnant and if I were Elizabeth, I would because I would want my child to have a father in their life. Now, I wouldn’t trust him but I would want us to be family. When it comes down it, it’s hard letting go of someone that you love but sometimes the best option for you is to just move on. If I didn’t have a situation like Elizabeth had, I would not have given a cheater another chance. Why? I would not have because then you would constantly be wondering if they will do it again and what anything else they say is true. You would have all of these unanswered questions in the back of your head. Not only that, but I believe that you can’t have a relationship without
trust. Elizabeth did not leave John, but not only because his good name would not be good anymore but because even though he had done this sin, she still loved him. This had made a big impact on their marriage. John was sorry for what he did but could not bare thinking of Elizabeth judging him.
