Elsa Schiaparelli has become a revolutionary fashion designer throughout day and age. All of her styles are groundbreaking, taking the 1930’s by storm. She has come a long way in comparison to her past and her unique fashions are growing more in popularity by the day. Schiaparelli was born in 1890 in Rome, Italy. Schiaparelli’s mother was an aristocrat and her father was a scholar. After high school Schiaparelli enrolled in the University of Rome and studied philosophy then soon published a poetry book after. Her parents deemed the book so explicit in nature that they sent her to a convent but was released soon after due to her going on a hunger strike. She then left for London for work as a nanny (N/A, web of page 1). In London she worked as a nanny for a short period of time before she got married and gave birth to a daughter. She moved to New York with her family and began to work in a small french Boutique which shaped her taste in fashion and accessories significantly. While in New York her marriage began to fail and she got a divorce. Schiaparelli decided to move to Paris and and continue working in the fashion industry. She soon after released another successful collection of ski-wear, bathing suits, and then the “divided skirt”, a pair of shorts with the appearance of skirt. Schiaparelli is also currently expanding into film and theater and some of her fashions are said to be shown in the up coming movie Every Day's a Holiday, starring Mae West, Moulin Rouge and Zsa Zsa Gabor.
