In addition, Emerson preaches the idea that society is a conspiracy against every one of its members. People are powerful when independent but joining the masses leaves one voiceless. It is impossible to stay unbiased and innovative with your own decisions when you are being influenced by so many outside factors, such as all of the voices of society.
