Music review: Recovery album (Eminem)
Snapping back to reality, Eminem decides to shift the gravity of not only his situation, but his music, coming back twice as hard, deciding to relapse, and get himself together in his album, recovery. Apparently, Eminem felt he was shady in his passed hit albums, as if he wasn’t giving his best. He was going through changes at the time, and had to re-vision his style into something worthwhile. Throughout his career, he seems to do this, every four years. Changing the deepness of his songs, along with the way he raps.
Unlike typical rappers, Eminem puts more effort into his lyrics than his instrumentals, filling his lyrics with hyperboles and metaphors, to create a poetic story filled with profanity. Yet both the lyrics and instrumentals develop into making an artistic song. Each song, whether it is slow or upbeat, shows Eminem’s crazed, off the wall, and somewhat violent personality in such a poetic form that Rolling Stones Magazines named labeled him “The King of Hip-hop”.
And Every King has a downfall moment, but the King of Hip-hop decided to pull himself together and come up with another plan to give his fans that Eminem Show that made you lose yourself in the music. Slim Shady has decided to be less shady, and put more shade in his songs, recovering what he used to be, and making it better.

One of his best known songs, “Not Afraid”, is an example of Eminem’s poetic skills, and also gives the inspirational message that he’s not afraid to change his life style, and not give up. An example of this would be in this verse; “from infinite down to the last relapse, he’s still shittin’ whether he’s on salary, or paid hourly. Until he bows out or he shits his bowels out of him”. This makes a reference to his last albums, gloats on how well he’s doing, shows that he’s not backing down, and even makes a little joke on defecating himself. But he

There are three things that make an authentic rapper, the concern to stay true to oneself, the location/place, followed by their relationship to an original source (Armstrong 336). Armstrong argues that Eminem proves to be expressively authentic in these three ways. Eminem raps about himself and the things he has experienced, secondly, he was mainly brought up in the predominantly black neighborhood in Detroit according to Biography and finally, he is associated with Dr. Dre an African American who gave him the spotlight he…

His rap songs are over flowing with rhythm and rhyme. Eminem has the talent to make just about any word rhyme. He could make something rhyme with orange if he had to. Without his strong rhythm skills, his music would be nothing. Without his strong rhythm skills, he would have no rhymes. Without his strong rhythm skills, Eminem would not be the rapper and artist he is today. Marshall Mathers is able to scrounge up any group of words, make them rhyme and sound absolutely amazing with the help of his right brained rhythm knack. It is astonishing to look at his ability to rhyme so well, and make fantastic pieces of art. Eminem is not some ordinary rapper, rhyming words like time, dime, and slime; He is rhyming more complex words, and words you would not even imagine could go…

Being born on May 21st, 1972, Biggie was caught in the middle of racial violence, gang wars, and a lifestyle that most people can’t relate to. At the age of fifteen, Biggie was selling crack on the streets of Brooklyn, being better known for dealing drugs than making rhymes. This part in Biggie’s life greatly influenced who he became, a world renowned rapper. His career started in basements and street corners around town, freestyling to his peers and neighborhood friends. People knew biggie as the street corner thug who could spit a rap when he wanted, and about what he wanted. His talent was nothing to overlook, he started rapping with the “Gold Brothers” and the “Techniques”, who ended up introducing Biggie to his first recording studio. At the age of 17 Biggie had dropped out of school, despite showing potential. The idea of money and power was too large to give up. He spent nine months in jail for drug charges, writing and preparing for his time in the lime light. Ounce he was released, he started to put together mix tapes, which bounced from source to source, causing Biggie’s name to gain publicity. Biggie’s first solo song, “Party and Bullshit” was featured in the film Who’s the Man? Not long after Biggie started to gain fame, music producer “Puffy”, or Sean Combs started to take interest, and began to record and produce for Biggie. In 1994 Biggie released his first album, “Ready to Die”, which exploded in the rap industry. Biggie had gone from hustling drugs on the corner in 1990, to being the “top-selling rap artist” in 1995 as MTV puts it. Things were looking up for biggie, until his fellow rap artist Tupac Shakur was killed in a drive by shooting. Tupac’s followers blamed Biggie and his crew, who denied any affiliation. Seven months later, Biggie was killed in a drive by shooting. Many believe the perpetrators belonged to Tupac’s crew, or a number of…

However, let’s talk about the heart in him that wouldn’t let the demons prevail. Ironically, in the constant conflict lied his greatest beauty. It’s the soul of an imperfect man. Everyone is affected by adversity and everyone tends to overcome and recover from adversity. One guy that a lot of people look up to and that had faced adversity is Eminem. His real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III and he is like an idol to people who have drug problems or family problems. He grew up with nothing and came from an absentee father and a cruel mother. He always appeared to be angry and it was even felt through his music. He has a disillusioned wife and lived life in a trailer park. His life was rough that pushed him to drop out of the ninth grade because he had failed three times. That’s when he thought of going into the rap career. In 1997, Interscope Records discovered Eminem and was given a record deal. He released his first album Marshal Mathers LP and it was very successful and won 3 Grammy awards for it. He had a daughter at an early age and struggled with fatherhood. Like a lot of fathers, Eminem doesn’t think he would be a good father for his daughter and he doesn’t feel like he could provide for her. He was always with his daughter and was by her side unlike his father was for him who left him. When his daughter turned three Marshall was able to provide her with everything that she wanted and life started to turn out better. He always wrote negative songs about his mother and Kim and his mother set up sever lawsuits against him but he overcame adversity by trying twice as hard to show his worth and to be successful in the Rap Industry. All of his songs and the 8 Mile movie were based on his life events and his friends, family, enemies, and he learns from his mistakes. His album Relapse was based on a rough time he went through but in 2010 he released Recovery which took a stand in his life to become a better Idol for people and a better person. People have experienced the things he’s been through and they take his songs into heart and understand what he means in them. I haven’t been through what he has besides the…

Music Lyrics being NON-VIOLENT Rap music can be considered a style of art, and a way for the artists to express feelings through their words on paper. However, there are quite a few rap artists that get criticized for their lyrics. In my essay, I want to discuss why rappers use certain lyrics in their music and why people shouldn’t believe that it causes violence among the younger generations. People shouldn’t censor the music just because of violent, vulgar and abusive messages it promotes to the world. I believe in my own mind, that there is a reason for these types of lyrics that rap artists use and I will simply explain those reasons in this essay. Rap has been called one of the most important music forces to emerge in two decades. It’s pounding beats and staccato rhymes exploded on the streets of the urban America in the early 1980s and since have become the theme music and lyrical heart of the vibrant youth culture called hip-hop ( SIRS 1993). There are many different types of rap artist. There are some that talk about money, some talk about righteousness, and the list goes on and on. Every rap artist had their own way of expressing themselves. There are those that talk about sex, drugs, and violence who receive the negative attention( SIRS 1993). People, think this so- called gangster rap is a bad influence on children in the world and that it promotes violence and that it also is abusive to women. Delores Tucker, head of national congress of black women has been among those pressuring different record companies to stop distributing gangster rap music. There were other significant names that participated in this action. Names like Senate Majority leader Bob dole, and former education Secretary William J. Bennett(Surveys, pg. 1). There are some rap artists that have been openly criticized for their lyrics. Rappers like Lil Kim, Too Short, Snoop Doggy Dogg, and a member from “Too Live Crew,” named Luke Skywalker. These rap artists in the past have been…

    Eminem lose yourself

After analyzing 'Lose Yourself' by Eminem, I've understood Eminem's emotion in this song. He raps about taking a chance at success and being able to take it without anyone stopping him. He also refers to the movie 8 mile, where he failed his first chance and knew that his second opportunity he had to succeed. Analyzing the lyrics, with all the expression he has on him he's starting to lose his desire and momentum of being an artist. At one point he says "A normal life is boring, but super stardom's close to post mortem" which means that having a normal life is boring, but being a superstar is almost being dead. Eminem feels like being a superstar is a lot of pressure and the expectation levels are very high because you need to keep producing content that is bigger and better which he said in this sentence "It only grows harder, only grows hotter". He's been through tough times in his career and tries his best to gain respect from other rappers in the industry. My final thoughts on this analysis would be that this song is about his tough times and what he goes through in his career and he truly does a great job expressing it in 'Lose Yourself'.…
