Music review: Recovery album (Eminem)
Snapping back to reality, Eminem decides to shift the gravity of not only his situation, but his music, coming back twice as hard, deciding to relapse, and get himself together in his album, recovery. Apparently, Eminem felt he was shady in his passed hit albums, as if he wasn’t giving his best. He was going through changes at the time, and had to re-vision his style into something worthwhile. Throughout his career, he seems to do this, every four years. Changing the deepness of his songs, along with the way he raps.
Unlike typical rappers, Eminem puts more effort into his lyrics than his instrumentals, filling his lyrics with hyperboles and metaphors, to create a poetic story filled with profanity. Yet both the lyrics and instrumentals develop into making an artistic song. Each song, whether it is slow or upbeat, shows Eminem’s crazed, off the wall, and somewhat violent personality in such a poetic form that Rolling Stones Magazines named labeled him “The King of Hip-hop”.
And Every King has a downfall moment, but the King of Hip-hop decided to pull himself together and come up with another plan to give his fans that Eminem Show that made you lose yourself in the music. Slim Shady has decided to be less shady, and put more shade in his songs, recovering what he used to be, and making it better.
One of his best known songs, “Not Afraid”, is an example of Eminem’s poetic skills, and also gives the inspirational message that he’s not afraid to change his life style, and not give up. An example of this would be in this verse; “from infinite down to the last relapse, he’s still shittin’ whether he’s on salary, or paid hourly. Until he bows out or he shits his bowels out of him”. This makes a reference to his last albums, gloats on how well he’s doing, shows that he’s not backing down, and even makes a little joke on defecating himself. But he
