Eminem: Rap God
Rap God Individuals are constantly talking about being right or left brained, but what does that even mean? A lefty, would be someone who thinks logically and is extremely detail oriented. Whereas, a right brained person would be somebody who is more down with their innovative side, has great rhythm and loves music. Who else is more in tune with rhythm and music than the rapper Marshall Mathers, or popularly known as Eminem. Based on Eminem’s mind-blowing rapping career, he would be considered to be a right brained thinker. Right brained people are known for being “Intuitive” and having a “spatial/abstract perception” (Diffen) on things. Eminem could be considered an abstract thinker because just about everything he puts in a rap song …show more content…
If Eminem was not good with imagery, he would not be the rapper he is today. Without the imagery he puts into his songs, they would be bland and distasteful to the ears. Most of Eminem’s pieces of art tell a story, and are jam packed with imagery details making sure you can tell what is going on. Eminem puts imagery into his music to help get across a message, or a central feeling. The imagery he displays in his music makes it more enjoyable to listen to because it paints a picture in your head. Every line in one of his songs has imagery in them, describing what is going on, telling you a feeling, or just making the message clearer. He is a master at including imagery into his music, which makes it even more believable that he is a right brained …show more content…
His rap songs are over flowing with rhythm and rhyme. Eminem has the talent to make just about any word rhyme. He could make something rhyme with orange if he had to. Without his strong rhythm skills, his music would be nothing. Without his strong rhythm skills, he would have no rhymes. Without his strong rhythm skills, Eminem would not be the rapper and artist he is today. Marshall Mathers is able to scrounge up any group of words, make them rhyme and sound absolutely amazing with the help of his right brained rhythm knack. It is astonishing to look at his ability to rhyme so well, and make fantastic pieces of art. Eminem is not some ordinary rapper, rhyming words like time, dime, and slime; He is rhyming more complex words, and words you would not even imagine could go

An uncritical or intellectually unskilled thinker is conditioned in his beliefs. He hasn’t examined or analyzed what he believes or why he believes it; rather his beliefs are a result of things he has experienced passively, and have been influenced by stereotypes and prejudices. He is irrationally motivated by things that serve him well personally, such as vanity, arrogance and entitlement. He is often defensive in his behavior when his beliefs are questioned or confronted.…

“What’s so great about Kanye is that he doesn’t fit into the hip hop/R&B landscape, as we’ve known it”, That’s why Kanye is such a well known rapper because everybody or at least a majority knowns who he is and what he does for a living. His profile of his music and his style don’t fit in because he’s different and interpret things in so many ways it's difficult to keep up with him.…

People learn in many different ways, but do you ever wonder why that is. Why are we so different and learn so differently? The brain is the answer to that question. The brain gives us what we need to determine what and who we are as people. Because of the human brain’s complexity, professors and teachers are starting to see that one way of teaching is not always the best way from everyone. “Each child processes new information in ways are related to environmental, emotional, sociological, physiological, and psychological elements” (Green, 1999, p. 684). When it comes to the process of learning and thinking, the average person has two sides of the brain that determines how they learn. The two main halves of our brain are the right brain and the left brain hemispheres. Each hemisphere performs different functions and communicates information differently. One hemisphere is not more important than the other but they do determine how we see things and interpret them in our mind. With the left brain hemisphere, the characteristics are mathematical and analytical and with the right hemisphere the characteristics are more creative and imaginative. The brain is very complex to understand. Once we learn how the left side brain learns and how the right side brain learns, then we can better develop a way of learning for all types of students and people.…

Although being extremely intelligent suggests that an individual knows how to think doesn’t mean that they know how to choose what to think about. In David Foster Wallace’s commencement speech to college graduates, he explains to them that they must become more aware of others and by doing that must learn how to think.…

The left brain is called the logical, or rational, side of the brain. Left brainers do things in the "proper" order and feel that there is a proper order. They to do well in subjects like reading, writing, speech and math. These subjects have an ordered sequence and left brainers process better in a linear, step by step style. Left brain dominant people will likely succeed in professions such as law, science and accounting (Williams.) Other characteristics of the left brain and left brained learners are that they usually spell very well since spelling involves the sequencing of letters; they can be very good at math because they can memorize formulas and they perform well at solving problems in a linear fashion; and usually they can give directions well because they have the visual acuity to see what they want to say and have it verbalize fluidly. More often than not, schools and institutions favor the left brain thinkers over the right brain thinkers. The subjects at school focus on logical thinking and analysis and accuracy. This does not mean that the right brain thinkers are not as smart though.…

    Poetry vs. Rap

In similarity, rappers have a lot of freedom when they rap a song and have the ability to change the wording, rhyme and sentence structure just like how poets have freedom in the style and use of literary techniques. In addition to freedom in style they also share similar literary techniques such as rhyme, meter, and alliteration. In rap, rappers “flow” are based on the literary techniques, creativity and delivery…

Rap music is a very different genre of music from the rest because it keeps changing its influence among black Americans. From the book by Debra Rosenthal, she defines rap music as an art that is well connected to the African American literature (Rosenthal 661). Rhythm and rhyme are emphasized in the music. On the other hand, melody and harmony are not given much of a priority. From the article, one can get the point that she hates on the music because she states that rap keeps changing the African American slang and refers it as rituals and figures to the black culture. However, I strongly disagree with the conclusion because according to me these black rappers have worked their way up to the top to gain the international recognition. They have also used their prowess in rhyme and rhythm to win their fans. They have taken up the challenge to use the most challenging aspect of music that many other genres do not use. On the point where she has related the rap on only blacks and the way it keeps changing the slang, she misses the point because it is not all the…

People that do not listen to rap music should realize that rap music carries out positive meanings for society to recognize. People can take rap as too loud or annoying, or people think, “Why do these rap artists have to cuss so much?” Yes, rap music will talk about sex, drugs, and degrading women. I believe that true rap music serves its purpose by sharing life stories and confronting harsh realities. There is a rap song called “Mockingbird” by Eminem, and it is about Eminem telling his daughter that he will always be there for her even though he is thousands of miles away. Critics of “Mockingbird” said the lyrics of the songs were a heart-warming sensation and addresses to a lot of people who are without a member of their family. With Eminem and his success, he is not just famous for the style he presents, but the messages he carries out and the realities there are in life. “Along with the widespread drug use…Many artists simply left these tough issues alone, but Tupac gravitated toward the controversy.”(Seth Campbell, Opinion) Rap music is straightforward, and people should not take that for granted. If there were only more rappers like Eminem and Tupac, and all the new rappers coming into Hollywood would aim as high as those rappers did…the world would be a little bit better of a place. If people focus on the rappers who do nothing but cuss and degrade women, then those are the people that look for nothing but the worst in society. Rap music symbolizes that out of every unfortunate income of life, there is always a message; perhaps a legacy, like Tupac, to be born and presented to a number of generations and generations to come.…

    What Is Intelligence

    • 438 Words

Isaac Asimov wrote an article titled, “ What is Intelligence, Anyway”. In this article Asimov begins the endless endeavor of defining intelligence. Asimov believes there are two types of intelligence. He begins to explain how some people have the talent of memorization and critical thinking. Others have minds that can imagine something and create or repair it to its magnificent structure. Asimov’s theory is proven to be true, for there are two different sides of the brain. Each side controls two different types of thinking. The first is the right side, which is used for creative thinking. The second is the left this is used for logical thinking. It has been proven that young children harness more power from the creative side. Since schools generally teach towards logical thinking as children grow older more than half of the population use logical thinking. This has a tremendous impact on human intelligence. This shows that people can be equally intelligent but their intelligence can lay in different areas along with the idea that intelligence is something that is not fixed but can be increased. Many would argue that talents and intelligence are not the same thing. However, talent is just a predisposition to be successful in a certain venture. This…

    Not Afraid- Eminem

Eminem is an American rapper, record producer, and actor. He is known as one of the most controversial and best-selling artists of the early 21st century. Eminem was born as Marshall Bruce Mathers III on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph, MO. Mathers had a turbulent childhood and never knew his father, Marshall Mathers Jr., who abandoned the family when he was still an infant. As a result, Eminem was raised by his mother, Deborah Mathers and they moved frequently between Missouri and Detroit, Michigan- spending large chunks of time in public housing projects. "I would change schools two, three times a year," Eminem recalled. "That was probably the roughest part about it all" (A&E Networks). This itinerant lifestyle left a large impact on his personality. Eminem has been scathingly critical of the way his mother raised him. Through his song lyrics, he has publicly accused her of being addicted to prescription drugs as well as subjecting him to emotional and physical abuse. Despite being a poor student, Eminem always had a deep love for language at one point even studying the dictionary. Eminem stated "I found that no matter how bad I was at school, like, and no matter how low my grades might have been at some times, I always was good at English ... I just felt like I wanna be able to have all of these words at my disposal, in my vocabulary at all times whenever I need to pull 'em out. You know, somewhere, they 'll be stored, like, locked away" (A&E Networks)…

For my Senior Project I took two of those elements; emceeing and partially djing(producing) to create a variety of hip-hop songs for an EP. The reason I wanted to do this is because ever since 9th grade, I have been in love with music, more specifically, rap. I was going through some tough times and it kept getting worse and worse. My friend who was 3 years older than me and who also struggled with his own problems told me to listen to 2Pac because his music helped him out a lot. I listened to him, and his music hit me instantly, more specifically the song “Nothing to Lose.” The things he would say and the way he would say it hit me hard. An example from that song is when he says “Where did I go astray? I'm hanging in the back streets Running with G's and dope…
