Clement (2016) states that behavioral interview questions are important because they provide a critical means of determining if the interviewee has, “experience with the topic of the question, and can perform the skills needed.” While some of the current interview questions attempt to implement methods that would potentially be effective in gauging the candidate’s actions in certain situations, the majority of the questions rely on questions such as training to determine the teacher’s competency. With the substantial diversity of training courses and the questionable nature of some higher educational institutions, increasingly interviewers need to assess candidates’ effectiveness through their own matrixes. Behavioral interview questions that require the candidate to answer situation specific challenges are highly effective in this regard because they are difficult for candidates to anticipate; this means that rather than a rehearsed answer, the candidate is forced to call on their authentic experience in answering the …show more content…
While many teaching requirements are the same throughout subject matters in the entire country, other district and state policies may further present unique challenges to candidates. Doyle (2016) indicated, “that among effective and changing teacher interview questions relate to those based on the common core state standards”. While these standards have recently been instituted nationally, the standards have been approaches by states and districts different. Subsequently, teachers may have different levels of experience with these teaching practices.
