Violations resulting from employee activities, business or personal, will not be condoned. Employees are expected to conduct all business activities well above the minimum standards required by law. Employees are expected to communicate all situational uncertainty with their direct supervisor and/or human resources director to ensure proper guidance and clarification. When in doubt, one should always waiver on the side of caution and seek advice, rather than make a choice that will leave a lasting impression on the reputation of the individual employee or the company as a whole.…

Employment relationships are regulated and complex for many reasons. Employers may arrange to hire a temporary worker through an agency that specializes in linking employers with the people who have the necessary skills. (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, p. 132) Organizations should be clear as to the type of employment relationship to avoid employer-liability. Organizations must consider the benefits and risks of contingent workers. Knowing the proper knowledge of alternative work arrangements is important for two reasons: 1) qualified employees are protected under most discrimination laws, and 2) most discrimination laws are limited to employers with a required number of employees. In my organization, we have several contract firms that supply contingent workers such as contract employees on a continuing basis.…

The Immigration Reform and Control act was formed in 1986. “The Immigration and Naturalization Service is responsible for implementing this law. IRCA prohibits employers from knowingly hiring, recruiting, or referring for a fee any alien who is unauthorized to work. The public policy behind this law reflects the concern that the problem of illegal immigration and employment requires greater control and stronger enforcement mechanisms by the federal government. As a result of this law, all employers are required to verify both the identity and employment eligibility of all regular, temporary employees, temporary agency personnel, and student employees hired after November 6, 1986, and complete and retain a one-page form (INS Form I-9) documenting this verification. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in both civil and criminal liability with the imposition of substantial fines ranging from $100 to $1,000 per hire, as well as possible imprisonment for a pattern or practice of noncompliance. Most importantly, failure to verify a new employee’s identity and employment eligibility will result in the termination of employment for that employee.”(bu.edu) I am for the incorporation of reforms like these. Illegal employment is definitely draining the American economy and we need to make better efforts…
