Course Description

This course addresses the key elements necessary for effective academic writing in college. The course begins with focus on prewriting strategies and builds to drafting and revising essays. In addition, the course includes skill development at the sentence and paragraph level.

University policies are subject to change. Be sure to read the policies at the beginning of each class. Policies may be slightly different depending on the modality in which you attend class. If you have recently changed modalities, read the policies governing your current class modality.

Discussion Questions and Participation Requirements

Each week, respond to the discussion questions listed in the main forum. They will be posted by the instructor for you.

Participate with at least six substantive comments in the Main forum each week, and respond on multiple days. Participate more to learn more! Do not wait until the last day to participate in discussion.

**Please keep in mind your responses to the DQ should be "substantive." This means you should respond in at least 100 to 150 words, and use examples and details to explain your ideas. Feel free to utilize the reading in the weekly course materials when responding. Also, see the posting “Discussion Roles” in the main forum for help as to how to respond to the discussion questions.
