Insecurity is the lack of self confidence or assurance. In simpler terms, fearful or afraid of what could be, or what will be in one’s life or one’s self. This is the thing that stalks the halls of every high school. The influence that insecurity can have on ones mental well being is so strong that, if it is not identified or addressed sooner or later it can cause a person great pain, sabotage ones potential for success, and very likely destroy their future relationships. It plays a major role in how people view the world and the way they respond to it. Insecurity for the most part, can be associated with constant self-consciousness, lack of confidence in ones self, and anxiety about their relationships.
When a child becomes a teenager it is the turning point in his or her life. This is when a child experiences such power of decisions, and it is the beginning of how a child will learn to express themselves, away from the views of their parents. This power then turns into insecurity. Teens among their peers are pressured to do what everyone else is doing, in order to fit in. This causes insecurity within a teen, a lack of self confidence.
I am today standing to tell the people who belittle themselves and think that they are not worth loving, who are insecure. This is to those who consider themselves as the wallflowers of our society.
Life is full of contrasts. It has ups and downs, rights and wrong; and positive and negative. It frequently fails to live up to our expectations, which is why we oftentimes feel disappointed. Those things that are covered by life’s negativity, however, are meant to be embraced and improved.
