Enter Island Academy Middle School Analysis
Throughout the past two years at Staten Island Academy, this learning environment has given me many opportunities that I could not have gotten at any other school. I'm not the most athletic, but I do very much enjoy playing sports. Here at the Academy middle school, I was able to experience any sport that I wanted to play, without a tryout system. The music and theater program here has given me countless opportunities to better my skills as an actor and a baritonist. I have been able to act in two plays, "Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr." and "Cyrano deBurgershack." They helped me learn the ins and outs of acting, as I was a beginner before I came to the Academy. In the orchestra, I have appeared in 5 concerts, all of which have been immensely successful thanks to our conductor, Ms. Wheatley. There have also been many truly amazing teachers that have guided me to academic success. Specifically, Mr. Levine helps me to understand …show more content…
I have been active in the two Middle School awareness clubs, like Zero Tolerance, and the now defunct Cultural Awareness for Everyone (CAFÉ). In Zero Tolerance, we have collaborated each year to make a public service announcement that shows the middle school why bullying is very damaging to students and a school, and especially to such a tight-knit community such as this one. In CAFÉ, which unfortunately was only around when I was in 6th grade, we went to all of the advisories and gave presentations on topics such as the disadvantage of stereotypes, and why we shouldn't base things on stereotypes. A last thing that I bring to the Academy is my citizenship. I have been good at leadership all my life, and I think that I am someone that classmates feel that they could lean on, that they can count on me. I also can be a reliable source for information. I want to keep doing these things and add some service as I continue into the Upper

If I were to be accepted into Thomas Dale’s prodigious Program of the Performing Arts, I would be delighted, not only because I would be able to express my passion for the violin but I could also mingle with the numerous amount of others who possess similar interests as mine. It is also one of my objectives to become a professional musician further along in my career path, Thomas Dale would be one step closer to achieving such an arduous path for a profession. Another reason that seems minor, but is actually significant for my choice of striving for the Arts, is making my wonderful teacher and conductor proud. If I joined the specialty center I would be an asset to the school program because I display a strong fervor for the beautiful music…

I’ve persevered through many stages of my athletic career including being told by coaches at the age of 14, you will never be good enough to play varsity. I spent the next two years working passionately to be stronger, faster, smarter, and varsity quality. My hard work proved to be successful in baseball and the classroom. I was 2015 First Team All Orange County Player, All Sunset League Player two years, and CIF Champion. That hard work and dedication lead to multiple Division I offers. I choose Cal Poly because of the education, the baseball program, and the SLO community. I’ve been asked to share my story with little leaguers and high school athletes. Those opportunities to share with young students have offered me new prospective and understanding that I can achieve my career goals by obtaining a RPTA…

I played as quietly as possible, fearing most that someone would hear me. I was happy to sink into the background, hiding myself away from the world. Towards the end of freshman year, however, I was forced to change. The orchestra program had grown immensely, so the director decided that everyone had to audition to join one of three orchestras. Furthermore, she made it clear that to participate in a trip to New York City, where we would play at Carnegie Hall, students had to make it into one of the top two orchestras.…

A.S.B. was an amazing class for me last year and I hope to be in it again. I would represent my Junior class in a positive way. It would be fun helping get kids involved in school activities. I would love to help with the school dances and assemblies because I am very creative. I think students should feel like school is there home away from home. Getting them involved and picking them for activities would give them a much better outlook and a good attitude towards school. I love getting decked out for spirit days so I would encourage other people to dress up with me! Leading in an enthusiastic way I will do the tasks at hand and get the work done, while being an example to others. I have a natural ability to improvise and adapt to every situation. I’ve had much experience like working a summer job at my Dads chemical company. In the office I helped work the phones for customer service. I also helped organize the company’s promotional events. To accomplish goals you must always respect others, work hard and get the job done; that’s what I think A.S.B. is all about. I’m up for anything, and available for whatever I’m needed to do. My family completely supports me as a leader and encourages any and all involvement that I am called to do. I am very energetic and enthusiastic about things and have many ideas. Also I’m very artistic and love to draw. I think one of my strengths is my creative mind. Being kind of a perfectionist is probably one of my strengths and one of my weaknesses. Sometimes I want to take my time to make everything right. Some things I could bring to A.S.B. are a fresh outlook, hard work and mainly new ideas. Maybe we could do some kind of marathon that went on the whole night till the morning; I think kids would have so much fun and we could still raise money. Otherwise I think A.S.B. is a great program and that’s why I’m running and would love to be in it again. I loved it last year and am hoping to…

To show you how much I appreciate your support over the years is by writing this letter. My favorite things I have done in high school are musicals and plays. I’ve been in choir for two years and in singers for two years. I’ve been in two musicals and one play. In the musical the “Sound of Music” I was Louisa Von Trapp. I have been in band, all four years of high school and I played the flute. I’ve been in FCCLA for four years of high school. FCCLA stands for family career community leaders of America. For FCCLA I did a star event which made me a little more confident in speaking in front of large groups of people. I have been in National Honor society for all four years of high school.…

Students everywhere are being picked for honor societies in their schools. When a student learns that they have been selected for such an honor, it encourages them to maintain their standing, or even find a higher ground. I, Matthew Hurley, was ecstatic to learn that I was considered for the honor society of Fairview Schools. I am now a third quarter sophomore and through my time so far in high school, I believe I have shown the qualities of a student in the Honor Society. I strongly adhere to the thought that I represent the four pillars of an Honor Society member. I have held my grades at a high percentage, helped my community and peers by doing service to them, lead those around me to become superior in their activities that I enjoy as…

Since the first charter school opened in Minnesota in 1992 (Minnesota Dept. of Education Website), America has seen charter schools move from a fringe educational alternative to an accepted and useful tool in public education. It is clear that charter schools are continuing to grow in popularity and student population, even with conflicting evidence about their effectiveness. This review will evaluate the necessity for strong educational leadership, a clear educational charter with a defined vision and financial backing, and built-in mechanisms and criteria for accountability in establishing an effective charter school.…
