Enterprise Applications Paper
Question 1: Describe two effects of database tools and technologies on business performance and decision making. Database tools and technologies affected the business processes and decision making by a great extent. The most important benefit of the database is to change unstructured information into structured information, and allow users to analysis the data stored into different tables with the help of queries. Before database, all the information used to stored into paper and other unstructured computer programs, due to which getting required information process was very slow. Due to database, all the data is stored into the server and not only access of these became faster but also multiple users can access database at the same time. It removes redundancy from the tables, and ensure that the data all over the database is consistent, and also ensure the integrity of the data. Database tools and technologies are not only managing and helping into storing and accessing stored information but also help to implement access level security into companies. DBA (Database Administrator), is responsible person for maintaining the database. Allow accesses to different users on different tables is handle by DBA only. Backup and recovery option is another important advantage of database tools and technologies, as we can access or modify database entries by queries there is probability that the wrong changes took place into the database or we lost the data due to some error then we can recover it from backup facility of the database. So, mainly managing information, user access levels, and backup and recovery etc. are the main use of information. With the implementation of the database, the information management process of business become very fast and efficient as well as it removes redundancy, and duplicate entries due to which the
